But they also operated outside of New Orleans right? They were big in New Orleans, but they had people throughout south Louisiana. I know Donaldsonville had some mafia influence.

The movie Donnie Brasco does the best job of portraying how the vast majority of mobsters actually lived and worked. They were basically broke dick criminals breaking into parking meters and pulling stick ups on trucks trying to scratch out a living. They were no different than common street thugs today except they wore suits and ate good.

I’m sure they did but this is not why they were called “Zips”. They called ‘em Zips because of how fast they spoke in their Sicilian dialect.

I accidentally left out the Philadelphia family in that litany of Mafia organizations I mentioned earlier. This was the Angelo Bruno Family which then became the Scarfo mob.
