A few years ago, major regional bank’s HR Dept accidentally emailed a spreadsheet of the salaries of thousands of employees to the entire company…
They realized it shortly thereafter, and worked furiously to delete and recall for damage control. They identified those who downloaded it and dealt with them individually but hundreds of people opened it and looked it over by name, position & salary…
Made for more than a few interesting annual reviews that year.

Had the same thing happen on a company wide email to literally several thousand people. He replied all calling everyone "Moron's" but spelled it maroon. To this day literally everyone in the company including our CEO calls people maroons on emails lol

Do you even Bugs Bunny? Calling a moron a maroon is a classic.

I was recently told that when they record Microsoft Teams meetings with a transcript, the transcript picks up a lot of under the breath comments made. Glad I usually stay on mute unless I'm talking.

A couple years ago we had a zoom meeting with the people that supply our math curriculum. One of my buddies and myself were PMing back and forth about how bullshite the meeting was while we were in a breakout room. I went to respond to one of the messages and the breakout room switched back to the main meeting literally right as my finger was moving to the enter button. Damn message sent to the entire meeting which consisted of 2 other schools in our district and these higher ups at this company. Thankfully I had a good enough relationship with my admin that everyone knew I didnt mean anything by it but still.

As a manager, these emails helped me identify my less tech savvy employees. Additional ones were the people who forwarded Bill Gates message so they could get $50.

Mine too. It is such a big fear that I had to just stop calling people stupid fricks in company emails altogether.

Couple years ago we had one of those get out of control. Hundreds of Reply All responses. Then dozens more asking people to stop replying all. Then a hero replied all saying if you reply all with "Code 101" it will remove you from the list. Another hundred reply all responses with "Code 101" came after that. The funniest was one of the big bosses responded with the Code 101...he was not in on the joke.

Stupid but it made my afternoon comical.

I remember in college, someone from the school accidentally sent a personal email to the entire campus student body.

It wasn't anything bad, it was something to the effect of "Are we down for applebees on Friday, half off-appetizers all night. First drink is on me".

Next thing you know you have 1000s of people all replying all. Now the entire campus is expecting this guy to buy drinks for them at Applebees. I literally had to cut my phone notifications off because I was getting non-stop email notifications for hours. The worst part was all the 100 people who would reply all "please take me off of this thread", or the worst, "please stop hitting reply all". Don't you get it yall are directly contributing to this mess.

This all went on all night and the next day until the school figured out how to delete the giant email thread. I still never found out what happened to the guy and whether he was fired or not. He accidentally started the world's largest group-message lol.

I knew a guy who was in line to become school board president of our parish years back. That is until he hit reply all and sent a pornographic picture to every email address in the whole school system. Every worker, principle, maintenance and even school teachers in their classrooms.. He just immediately started typing his resignation letter once he realized what he'd done lol.

The boss is also an idiot for sending the email with recipients in the "To:'" field. You should "BCC:" everyone. Then they CAN'T reply all. The real fault is with the senders of these emails.

Not really. He later told me that he wanted to see who and who could not follow simple directions. He often did things like that as I came to find out. He gave raises to most of the division and I know for a fact two of the ones who replied all didn't get them. Probably wasn't the sole reason but knowing him it could've been

Hopefully he never had to explain that as a "legitimate, non-discriminatory" reason for an adverse employment decision.

I used to work for a very large company that used Skype messaging. There were several thousand people in offices across the world on it. One day some poor bastard accidentally blasts a group message out to everyone in the company. That set off the moron chain reaction of people sending "what is this?", "Why am I getting this?", "I don't think this is for me", etc. That was followed by dozens of well meaning dumbasses telling everyone to stop replying to it. The whole thing went on for a few hours pinging everyone's computer.

Basically the same thing happened where I worked except it was email and somehow everyone in a company of 100k+ employees in time zones around the world got looped in. Reply to all hell of people replying to say to stop replying to all went on for several hours before most of us created Outlook filters to delete the messages and stop notifications.

I worked for an international company of 50-60k people, and these would happen once a month. Everyone would get sick of the reply all torture and just start posting links to random shite, shitposting, etc. was usually entertaining for a couple hours
