It's called this Tuesday to let it be known that you arent talking about the Tuesday that just passed. The Tuesday that just passed would be called "Tuesday". As in, "I drank a beer Tuesday". You wouldnt say "I drank a beer this Tuesday". The "THIS" is unnecessary because you area clearly talking about the Tuesday that just passed. If you were referring to the Tuesday approaching, it would be "this Tuesday".

I wouldnt answer you back, because I would CLEARLY be talking about the Tuesday that just passed. Last Tuesday would be two Tuesdays ago unless you are actually on Tuesday.

I usually just say "Tuesday", as in "Let's schedule a meeting to go over that on Tuesday". Anything after that I'll say Tuesday and the date, as in "let's schedule meeting to go over that on Tuesday, the 2nd of June."

Nah. I agree with the context clues argument. It's not incorrect to say "I drank a beer this Tuesday." Obviously, by the word "drank," you mean past tense. That sentence would never refer to the Tuesday approaching.

I'd just say "on Tuesday".
I was just talking about a tubing trip that's happening Monday. I didn't feel the need to specify which Monday since it is the nearest one. "Everyone is going tubing Monday if you want to go." If the person would have asked which Monday (which would seem dumb), I guess I'd say "this Monday".

Sure. Makes sense. But I dont think it jives with how most of us inbred savages in the south actually carry on a convsersation. My drink (drank) a beer argument for example. A normal person wouldnt answer the question back with "I drank a beer this Tuesday" because it was already implied in the question that it was past tense. The normal response to "when did you drink your last beer?" would typically be "Tuesday". Youre saying in casual conversation you would be specific about it if it wasnt already implied that your were talking about this week when being asked the question?
