Agreed. There is no true right answer. But following the rules of english this tueday would more so refer to 5/19, as "this" has to have some implied possessor, which would be the week. So this weeks tuesday is 5/19 untill you get to Sunday

I was just talking about a tubing trip that's happening Monday. I didn't feel the need to specify which Monday since it is the nearest one.
It is all about context and understanding that sometimes there isn't a rigid rule to determine meaning. A conscientious communicator would be more precise to avoid potential confusion.

Yea I like the week theory now. It makes sense. But if he said "we're going tubing next Sunday," he would need to clarify. Especially if he said that this Saturday.
