I take it you never heard of the Prop Stop

A few places here and there?
In New Orleans on the river, we've had the Fly uptown for years, added the Moonwalk in front of Jackson Square in the 70s, added the Riverwalk after the World's Fair, then Woldenberg Park and a world class aquarium between the two, and recently Crescent Park downstream in the Bywater.
On the Lake, we had Pontchartrain Beach and West End, and still have the long park along Lakeshore Drive.
Jefferson Parish has the (rather boring) Linear Park all along its lakefront, and a pedestrian/bike path all along the top of the Mississippi River levee. They recently have been doing a lot at the Bucktown Harbor (marina, park, wetland boardwalk).
That's a lot more than a few places here and there.

Louisiana and “nice” don’t go together. The only nice thing that will remain as such will always be LSU. That’s the pride and joy of the state.

Looking out over the river is lovely, and the hordes of people you can see taking pictures off of the Tsunami terrace around sunset are objective evidence for just how wrong you are

Do you even “Tunk’s Cypress Inn on beautiful Kincaid Lake”?

Hurricanes. Terrible investment if you have to pay a ton in insurance and have a decent chance to lose it all every year. Plus you’d just be catering to all the trash around the area

You're not wrong but the entire panhandle says hi.

????
The old LSU- Hell yeah!
I bleed purple & gold but I'm about bled out. The new woke LSU can sail off into the sunset (& off a cliff) for all I care....
I'm done.
Done with season Tix after 30+ years; Done with donations;
Done with sending kids (they'll go elsewhere)...

Yeah ok bud. I’m sure they’ll miss your money. Thank you for taking a stand. Edge lord.

Basically Louisiana just sucks.
Long story short yes. Love my Tigers. Always will. That doesn’t mean I have to live there to enjoy it. I can gladly drive in for a Gameday weekend and be home Sunday afternoon.
Trying to right the ship that is Louisiana is a waste of time. Beating a dead horse. Do what millions are doing, get out.

There’s nothing that appealing about the Mississippi River.
There are similar or worse rivers that cities have embraced as part of their identity, and are main attractions in town. A lot could be done. Like I said: check out Savannah:

I have lived around Lake Charles area most of my life and always wondered the same thing. It has to be short sighted city leadership, I've heard many times over the years about studies and plans to develop the area around the Civic Center and beach front, but nothing happens. Always heard the big money folks that own most of Lake Charles doesn't want to move that direction. Backwards arse thinking that makes up much of Louisiana.

Has the best opportunity, and there are things happening.
- Lake Charles is building Port Wonder (a children's museum) on the lakefront, along with the Crying Eagle Brewery (restaurant). Lake Area Outdoors is going to open up a watersports rental outfit on the beach. The boardwalk from the Civic Center to the new development will be rebuilt.
- Westlake is developing its riverfront along the river to the Horseshoe Casino (former Isle of Capri), which also appears to be creating a nice space overlooking the lake where the riverboat used to dock. The new I-10 bridge is supposed to have a walking/biking lane, too, so both sides of the river could be accessible by foot, conceivably.
- If the Contraband Pointe development would ever take off on Prien Lake Road, you could see some nice waterfront features along Contraband Bayou. Would also love to see something cool replace the old Motel 6/Inn on the Bayou location. That used to be a cool place for boaters to ride up to for a little dock-side party.
Then you have the L'Auberge/Golden Nugget complex on the river.
If all of these things would get up and running, I could imagine a cool little water taxi service taking people to and from each of these locations. Not sure the casinos would buy into something that takes people away from their places, though.
hoping the progress continues. hopefully LC continues to develop that area and hopefully Westlake developes the old port area north of the horseshoe.

I’m about as MAGA as it gets but this type is stuff is uncalled for.
WTF does being MAGA have to do with that comment..

There are several developments along the rivers and lakes in Louisiana.
Shreveport has the Red River
Natch has the Cane River
Morgan City has the Atchafalaya River
Baton Rouge has a River but nothing there is worth visiting
New Orleans has the Mississippi
There are others that I'm missing
On top of that you have Toledo Bend
Grand Isle
Lake Fausse
Also have several places on the North and South Shore of Lake Pontchartrain

Never understood why this location was never more popular. It was a cool little area even before the casinos.
