14 is a bit young IMO. I personally wouldn’t give a minor alcohol but if their parents let them have it then that’s their business. I wouldn’t leave a party over this tho.

Never, no way in hell am I giving any kid except my own drinks underage. All it takes is one of those shite bags to talk or complain and wind up being in legal trouble and/or getting sued. F that nonsense.

Definitely not 14
Can’t even drive at that age

Senior year was when we allowed it with proper supervision and no driving allowed more to celebrate end of senior year knowing heading to college was next
Plus most get fake ids in college anyway

More practically, having a bunch of drunk 14 year olds in my house overnight sounds like a nightmare for a number of reasons.

Absolutely ridiculous.

They should be handing out pot brownies instead.

adult or legal guardian

Any adult..? I thought it had to be parent or legal guardian … not the “cool” parents …

I’d be really pissed if another parent gave my child alcohol without talking to me first. What kind of parent would even do that?

We do not teach our kids how to drink socially enough in this country leading to kids hiding, lying and binge drinking..

But. 14 is young when it’s not your kid

When the kids turned 18, I told the friends they could bring their own drinks as long as they weren’t driving and their parents were okay with it.

Now that they’re turning 21, I’d be okay sharing mine.

No way in hell would I ever offer a 14 year old a drink.

Without parental consent, yeah that’s wrong.

But, in many European and South American countries kids are routinely given a glass of wine for around the age 12 onwards. At fourteen maybe the occasional beer too. Personally I am of the belief that avoiding the taboo and mystique about alcohol avoids some of the binge drinking teenagers will resort to if it is banned completely from them.

Also, fwiw there was a time when at 14 there were several European countries that would allow kids to drink wine and light beers in bars unaccompanied by adults. My high school even served wine in the cafeteria at lunch for seniors. If anything it taught responsible drinking.

Ultimately though the decision should still rest with the kids’ parents and not some random stranger.

I am not even sure if they have to be 18 but it certainly has to be parent or legal guardian (or spouse if they are married under age 21)

Giving alcohol to someone else's child could certainly result in contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges

Yeah I would never give another person's child alcohol. I can't think of one good reason to.

As far as my own kids, I think 15 is a good age to give them beer/wine/weak cocktails to introduce them to that world.

I’m probably getting into that dude’s chest if he gives my kid booze at 14 without talking to me first.
