Not only is it a contrarian take, it's the wrong take.

Wtf are you talking about. Nobody "has every right to be mad" at someone else because they catch a baseball at a baseball game.

They caught it. You didn't. That's life. Fn deal with it.

So when you purchase a ticket for a specific seat in the stadium, you must stay within a certain number of feet of that seat to catch a souvenir ball or hat or whatever? I must have missed that "rule" in the fine print.

I didn't realize that your ticket purchase gives you ball catching domain over your section, either.

I remember as kids us all running from various points around the stadium to the the end zone behind the uprights whenever someone was kicking a field goal during the old JV games at LSU. All in the hopes of catching the kicked ball. I suppose we were all breaking your unwritten "rule" in doing so.

What she did is literally robbery. She used force and threats of force to obtain something of value belonging to another.

No he didn't. Some of yall are either really dense or intentionally contrarian. He didn't shove her over the seats to get to it. He reached down and was the fastest in the draw. Those are the rules.

If anything, she should be embarrassed that he ran to her section and she still lost the ball. Maybe she should do reflex exercises.

She overreacted and deserves the ridicule, but looking at the other side of it, if I was sitting in my seats with my kid and a ball came right at us and he was going for it, then some dude from another section sprinted in and grabbed it I'd be a little perturbed.

Sure but she didn't have a kid with her and he was in the same section as her. So this counterpoint adds nothing to the discussion.

I must have missed where I said it was a rule. I said I'm not a fan of it.

Also there's a difference between going a few seats over and running into another section for a ball. Balls are hit into the stands constantly. There's certainly a level of social understanding that you can't constantly bombard people in other sections to get every ball.

that didnt happen here

I haven’t read last the first page of the thread, but am I the only one who thinks it looks fake as hell? Not saying it is, and I realize the team has stepped in and all that. But just the dad’s initial reaction was so overly cartoonish, and the son too, and even the lady. It just all feels staged to me.

That can't be real, right? If so, she needs to be canceled, and I HATE cancel culture. But some people deserve it. If that story is true, she deserves everything coming her way.

You've become a victim of fakeitis. Go for a walk and clear your head, not everything is fake.

The point is the dad's behavior is not free from judgement just because the lady was an insane bitch.

IMO he was a little overzealous in retrieving the ball.

She was 10x's worse and certainly deserves the majority of the ridicule.

The frick it isn't. What he did was well within established, decades old, baseball rules. You might want to put down the keyboard and take the L.

Yep, a loose ball is a free for all. If its hit out of the stands, everyone scrambles. There are no rules here...
