There have been discussions that some of the schools are going to go virtual, or modified Phase 1, between Thanksgiving and when the students would normally return in Jan. The reasoning they are giving is because of the complexity of contact tracing as there will be large gatherings for Thanksgiving & Christmas (regardless of what the government says). While I think it's dumb, that actually seams practical, and makes me think it will extent until after MLK day (which would be just over 2 weeks from NYE).

This way, if any of the students have direct contact with someone from COVID, they will already be somewhat quarantined (schools discussing going back to the 8:1 or 12:1 classes during this time) and limit the number of people that student would have direct contact with.

I’d agree that this is likely. Also the teacher issue. Plenty of teachers stuck in quarantine and hard to do in person without having staff to run it.

We are currently only 100+ in hospitals to when we moved to Phase 3, but people think we are going back to March lockdowns?

I don't get it.

It’s no longer lock down to save the hospitals. It’s lock down so no one gets the virus. It shifted months ago.

As annoying as it sounds, I'm sure the schools that are able to make the decisions themselves, are trying to do it to save them from headaches. The schools are open for roughly 3 weeks between Thanksgiving & Christmas, then don't reopen until the Monday after NYE. & 2 weeks later is MLK day. During this time, there are also another 2-4 days that they are closed, plus some of the schools have half days worked in.

I don't agree with it, but I can understand the decision & thought process behind it. Other than having to close for 2 weeks, I would think the last thing they want is to have to put people in a 2 week quarantine right before Christmas...assuming people in quarantine, from contact tracing (or actual COVID+), would abide by the 2 week stay at home.

well, we’re headed to NWLA for Thanksgiving week and will be enjoying the normal holiday festivities. If JBE has a problem with this, I’d suggest him calling the National Guard.

notice how the local and National media no longer mention or show stats regarding deaths and rarely hospitalizations. It’s only case count % increase now, then they jump straight into a heartbreaking CV19 piece or how more lockdowns could be coming soon.

You don't get that a Democrat governor drunk on power, who has stated many times he wants federal aid, and hasn't budged on lockdowns because he hasn't gotten federal aid, will continue to lockdown in the hopes of a Democrat President getting in office, and thus having a greater chance of receiving federal aid?

You are naive.

My kid is in private school in BR. They have been back in school since August, in person teaching. Not a single kid in that entire school has come down with Coronavirus.

The irreparable damage being done to the kids in EBR Parish Public schools, outside of the damage of having to already be in the failing EBR Parish school system, will show in years to come.

What is your definition of lockdown? I think this is where people get confused.

Since the current spike is attributed to small gatherings at people's private residences, this makes no sense.

They don't have a fricking clue what to attribute any spike to....they just make it up right out of thin air.

Limitations on private businesses. Useless mask mandates. Public schools being shut down. Banning of live music, alcohol passed 10 pm, etc... Basically what JBE, Latoya, and Broome are doing now.
