I am not a sentimental person. I've got none of my childhood stuff. I have my senior year of high school yearbook and that's it.

I've got a small plastic bin for each of my parents thing that my family made me take

One small for my son he can have when he is 18.

I just don't like clutter and dont see the point of just storing things.

Now is a good time.

Damn. The question isn’t when do you get rid of it. The question is why did you keep it in the first place?

Yearbooks and awards and stuff are still at my mom’s unless she’s thrown them out.
Pics?

(Of her, not the yearbooks, awards and stuff)

No reason to ditch the yearbooks.

Most people leave the rest of that stuff at their parents’ house and it eventually gets tossed.

Or, in my dad’s case, 40 or so years later when his parents downsized and had an estate sale, a few of his highschool buddies bought all of his trophies and have randomly sent them to him one at a time over the last 15-20 years.

I still have a few boxes of Ka-Boom breakfast cereal and I'm not getting rid of them.

I might sell a box on Ebay and make a few hundred bucks.

my mom kept all of the stuff that i have no interest in. She gave away all my He Man, Star Wars, and GI Joe toys, though. I wouldve liked to keep those

Old yearbooks, school uniforms, trophies. Awards That sort of thing.

I have about 8 plastic tubs of this stuff in my garage. I’m in my mid 40s. Haven’t opened the tubs in years.

It’s not taking up tons of space but it’s taking up some.

So when do you decide to get rid of it? Will the grandkids want to see it?

I try to live thin.
Except for damn guitars

Odd question to ask others. You get rid of it when you want to. Personally unless I had to I wouldn't get rid of any of it. Its not about the physical items. Its about the memories connected to them. Such as looking through the yearbooks years later and jogging memories of long forgotten friends and moments in your youth. Same as the trophies again it is not the item itself its the memories connected to them that remind you of the stories and connections. I would imagine your grand kids will look through them and have a million questions.

Have a one day garage sale, and only invite Antique Tiger.

Ask yourself this question, would I enjoy seeing these same items that belonged to my mom/dad? If so, keep them for your kids to enjoy.
