In my opinion, in Baton Rouge anyway, it was the day that dude shot all those cops by Benny's/Floyd Brown's on Airline. I think that day changed every police officer in this town. They decided risking their lives anymore for some bullshite is no longer worth it and I can't really say I blame them.

No we just gotta tread water until the robot cops come online.

disagree. I think it was more Covid related. The killing of those cops was related to St. Alton. I think Covid and the St. Floyd bullshite really did a number on police. Thats when they said "frick it".

They need a task force with an unmarked van. Driver, and someone taking pictures of said phone user, radio ahead or mail them a ticket.

Huge money maker for the area, at night it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

I'd like to see enforcement on no license plates. Huge rash of that right now. Thst accompanies no insurance.

I'm seeing more and more jackasses around BR turning left from the inside lane- cutting off the entire turning lane because they didn't feel like they have to wait their turn behind those who got there first..

Like wise, I'm seeing people TAKE the turn lane- and it they're first in line, flooring it to cut off everyone going straight for the same reason.

I won't let people cut across traffic in front of me- because they simply have no problem blocking all lanes of traffic from the far lane AT THE INTERSECTION after failing to merge 2 miles ago.

This town is a zoo.

A lot of it is our doing. There are daily threads on here about getting out of traffic tickets. Tickets aren't expensive enough to be a deterrent to bad behavior, and even if they were a lot folks wouldn't pay them, or get out of paying them.

For a lot of PD today why even both unless its something egregious and there is video.

You mean Gavin Long, the BLM activist and Islamic convert? The one who murdered the following officers because he was angry over that piece of shite Alton Sterling getting killed?

Deputy Bradford Allen Garafola, 45
Officer Matthew Lane Gerald, 41
Corporal Montrell Lyle Jackson, 32
Sergeant Nicholas Tullier, 46

This goes to the demonization of broken window policing, also known as order-maintaining policing.

That's defined as a strategy that focuses on addressing minor offenses and visible signs of disorder, like graffiti, litter, and public drinking, in an effort to deter more serious crime. The core idea is that by maintaining public order and social control, even at a low level, it can help prevent more serious criminal behavior.

Most of the objections to that seem to follow certain political ideologies.

If you don’t have UM driving in this shithole of a State then you’re an idiot. If you have UM but just minimum limits, you’re not an idiot. You are just stupid. You need sufficient UM coverage if they T bone you. I personally have 500K UM. Thinking about going to 1M.

÷8M om the tx plates. I've noticed that more than I have race/gender. But, in my defense, gender is getting hard to tell these days.

Come to Mandeville. MPD has been on a fundraising kick as of late. Speeding, reckless driving, running lights....expired tags, scanning plates for Insurance lapses.....if you are Jonesing for that sort of thing.

I got pegged in Brusly a few years back (before that idiot cop killed my friend’s daughter and her friend leaving the HS) for not having an inspection sticker and they tattooed the shite out of me because I didn’t pay the BS ticket.

Tax collectors for sure.

1. Elected Law Enforcement Officials. You can't upset the voter and give them a ticket. I heard this from a former Chief of Police.
2. More violent crimes need focus
3. The potential for a department crippling lawsuit

Here's why they should write tickets for traffic violations and other misdemeanors.

"The broken window theory, a criminological concept developed by James Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling, proposes that visible signs of disorder, like broken windows, graffiti, and litter, can lead to a more serious escalation of crime and disorder. It suggests that maintaining order by addressing minor offenses can prevent more significant crimes from occurring."

When Giuliani lowered crime in NYC the BWT is what he implemented.
