Once in Japan in the 90s, the only English song in tbe karaoke bar was the Bay City Rollers' "Saturday Night". I hate that song, but it was the only one I could sing that night.

Gotta say, I only do Kareoke maybe once every 2 years, and I've seen a few 50+ guys sing - none sang that. Pretty tough to hit some of those notes in that song.

I was in a bar in Indiana a couple months ago and it happened to be karaoke night. Some old fat bald dude got on stage and absolutely nailed unchained melody. Dude was amazing, and there were several other extremely good singers there. Come to find out that bar is the spot for people who can actually sing.

99% of the time it's "My Way".

The lump could have been a low man bureaucrat his whole career, the only decision he ever made was ordering his cheap fast-food lunch, yet they aways sing the same thing.

It makes me want to stick ice picks in my ears. The bane of cruise ship lounges.

Do you suffer from some type of Karaoke Addiction?

Not sure. I’m 48. But I’d rather see an over 50 guy do karaoke any day of the week over seeing one more over 50 guy hit on a 24 year old girl at the gym.

See it every day while I’m working out in the morning and it’s like watching the movie Hall Pass on repeat.

I’d like to hear you out on why that’s a hill worth dying on.
—————-
Microphone

So for an informal abbreviation the hill to die on is to replace one letter with a different letter that doesn’t exist in the original word but then eliminate the next 6 letters, preserving the final letter as the remaining relic…rather than just going with the first 3 letters?

That’s a lot more work that seems to ignore the concept of a shortcut (the purpose of an abbreviation).

That would be like adding Rosie O’Donnell to your Babes from Days Gone By thread in that it is clearly NOT the hill worth dying on.

Ride Like The Wind.
What A Fool Believes
Black Water
What's So Fun About Peace Love And Understanding.
Maybe Ah! Leah! by Donnie Iris

Any of these songs would be chosen before My Way. Now maybe my late father would have sung that one.
