Super Freak
I hate when people want to be super serious with karaoke, like they are trying to win Star Search or something. That is no fun. Crowd wants to party. Even if you can just kill a song, get up there and do a fun song. Nobody wants to hear your grandma looking arse trying to sing some Wynona Judd or some shite.

The word is microphone. How the hell you get mike out of that?

somewhere there is a VHS tape of me singing "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood at the Cat's Meow, ca. 2004.
I was in Key West with a group of about 14 and I got pushed up to the stage by the group (“He can sing”) at Dirty Kevin’s to sing with the solo bikery chick who was alternately entertaining/insulting the packed room.
She was kinda pissed about me being up there, she moves away from the mik (mike/mic compromise) and whispers through a fake smile, “I hate stupid arse no talent drunks embarrassing me. If you frick this up, I’m going to frick you up.” I answered “When I rock the room, you owe me a beer and a BJ.”
Started with “Midnight Special” and then after a couple of Eagles songs (Tequila Sunrise, Take It Easy) she told the barman to get me a beer over the mic and told me sotto voce that she got off at 2:00am and she always paid her debts.

I was 50+ once, and I did 'Nothin But a Woman' by Robert Cray.
