By all accounts it's shaping up to a monster regarding offroading capabilities.

Land Cruiser had a really bad arse SUV about 25 years ago. I loved their square body style they had.

Current SUV - probably the current gen Yukon and Suburban. The current 4Runner (2015-2024) is also very cool as well as the latest Lexus GX (2024-2025)
I liked the Land Cruiser from 10-15 years ago. The Suburban, Yukon/Jimmy, and full sized Blazers from the 1980s and 1990s were also awesome. The 1980s bull nose Broncos were favorites of mine too.
I want to like the new Land Crusier but it just doesn’t do it for me. I do like the next gen 4Runner though. I just wish the Land Cruiser was larger or that the Sequoia was significantly better and more appealing. I’d have preferred that Toyota just add Car Play to the older Sequoia and Land Crusier rather than bringing watered down versions to us.
Never been big into Jeeps. I don’t hate them, but they are just so over played to me.

A new Lexus gx550 Overtrail+ is ~$15k cheaper than a new Yukon AT4.

Yeah. But next year the Yukon AT4 gets Super Cruise and the optional diesel engine. That makes it a more difficult decision.
I really like both. The Yukon with the diesel is a damn nice package. Glad they are expanding that engine option to the off road model finally.
Wish Lexus had the roll down back window from the 4Runner. That would have been awesome. That’s one of my favorite features of our 4Runner.

Jeep Wrangler the years they had the 4.0 straight six engines 1991-2007. Damn good motor.

Compared to what?! lol, it’s a capable body-in-frame suv. If gas mileage on a GX bothers you, a large suv isn’t the vehicle for you.
