What’s your car payment?

This is disturbing to me.
quote:
A $523 monthly payment is the new standard for car buyers. The average monthly loan payment for a new vehicle hit an all-time high of $523 in the first quarter, according to Experian. The average amount borrowed by buyers of new cars, trucks and SUVs also climbed to a record high of $31,453.

524 per month. But I've always been above average.

Never had a note over $500.
Not that there is a problem with one above that, I just have some sort of personal limit there. I can't defend my reasoning.
When you consider inflation then yes, the average payment should increase every year.

$0 - If I can't pay cash I can't afford it. That goes for all things except for house.

me. 2010 Toyota Tacoma - 125k miles - $0/month (owned)
wife. 2016 Lincoln Navigator - 35k miles - $465/month (financed)
so, $465/month for our household.
her navi has a great interest rate on the loan. my truck is in perfect condition and will likely last another 150k miles, so that she drives this vehicle until we pay it off and we buy and then pay off her next vehicle before i need something new. sorry not sorry for being a taco owner.

I couldn't imagine losing money by paying upfront instead of getting a rock bottom interest rate.
Not everyone has good credit though.

Nothing at the moment.
That will change in a few months to hopefully under $400 with trade and cash.
