Now we are in the "pretending it's not weird as frick" stage of the thread

Plus, some of the little rides like Tea Cups, the Haunted House, and Pirates of the Caribbean are fun nostalgia experiences.
My kids had us riding this many times...

Tower of Terror, and Star Tours.
Worth it many times over.

come on
there are so many other things that I would consider "weird as frick" over this
its not for me, but 2 adults going to a resort to swim, eat, drink, and ride rides? not sure how that is "weird as frick"
not everything at DW is kid oriented

I prefer zip lining in Costa Rica, catamaran in st marten, snorkeling in the Bahamas, camping in the Blue Ridge mountains. If guys dressed up in kids character costumes do it for you by all means continue. I see no appeal without kids there.

I'm one of these people. We go every 2 or 3 years. I've been as a kid, as a teenager, as an adult (couples trip, family, and with our son).
Each experience is different because Disney World has a ton of variety outside of the 20-30 main rides throughout each park.
When my wife and I went alone, we went for the marathon. It was our first one. We've since done it again along with the Dopey Challenge and the Wine and Dine. These are the most enjoyable long distance races there are. Lots of fans watching, you actually run through the parks, and plenty of entertainment and water/food stops.
The last time we went (November), my son was about to turn 3. I'll never forget his reaction to meeting the "real" Mickey Mouse. I'll never forget him walking down Main Street the first time. We did the Christmas Party. We had drinks around EPCOT. We stayed at Bay Lake Tower which meant the Magic Kingdom gate was just a 10 minute walk away. And EPCOT was a monorail transfer away.
People who complain about the food aren't doing it right. Maybe the cost is high at some places, but overall, you can find really good food as long as you don't just stick to the parks. The resorts have the best. Hell, Victoria and Albert's is the top rated restaurant in central Florida.

And yet I imagine it feels perfectly normal for the millions of Americans who do it. Having season tickets to the symphony orchestra, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Red Rocks concert series are not "normal" either. Unless you are the one doing it, in which case it is perfectly normal. Not sure why grown men are so outraged about the normal choices that other people make with their entertainment dollar.
I for one am not "outraged" about anyone going to Disney World. I would find it odd if anyone were legitimately outraged at another going to Disney World. I'm not sure why you feel the need to be so dramatic.
Season tickets to the opera and to sports teams probably isn't normal either. You're right. I enjoy sports and if I lived closer to a team I cared about, I may be interested in season tickets. I can see how others might see that as a useless way to spend my money, and may even find it odd (not normal). That's ok. I wouldn't take any critical or curious remarks as an indictment of my lifestyle.

They should just be addicted to phones like everyone else.

And that still doesn't make it appealing to me.

Your post is a vailed attempt for you to act superior of others because you think it's weird for people to enjoy certain things.
Of course I think it's odd for people to enjoy certain things. We all think other people do odd things.
If you feel inferior because I think it's odd, that's not my fault. If it makes you feel any better, I think God loves us both the same.

I'm sorry you're too poor to take more than 1 vacation every 10 years I guess...

Annually? Unless you live near there, going annually without children is not normal for everyday Americans. I'm not saying it's pathological, it's just silly.

While my only DW trips have either been when I was a child or taking my own child to DW, I definitely think it would be a fun trip for a young couple without any kids too.
If you're spending $5000 for just 2 people at DW, you're doing a combination of one of the most expensive luxury DW resort hotels, fine dining restaurants often, and shopping sprees.
Also, there's a lot to do at DW thats a whole lot easier without kids...drinking around the world at Epcot, eating at nice restaurants, watching the stage shows, behind the scenes tours, etc
Why would a couple with no kids go in the summer anyway? No kids = go to DW when kids are in school. Avoid holidays, summer, and other times when school is out and the crowds are significantly smaller.
Fastpasses. Although if you avoid peak season, holidays, and times when kids are out of school then most lines aren't bad even for the big rides.
You pay for quality and it keeps the trashy crowd out.
A chance to let loose and have fun like a kid again. Seriously, there's a lot of entertainment for adults. Boardwalk, golf courses, spas, good food including a variety of exotic international places to eat. DW has a lot more than just kiddie rides and costumed characters. Just do a little research online

We're at the stage where we get accused of being angry, outraged and on the verge of violence because we find certain behavior odd.

I'm just grateful we have added a real life Renaissance Man here in our ranks to disabuse the mediocre people of The OT that their entertainment choices are déclassé. Would you consider doing an MMA thread or one about fat people? There is so much material out there with all these individual Americans making all these individual choices about their lives. We should lecture them more on the subject of how odd their choices are to us.
