Yeah... And look, as they say "different strokes for different folks", if that's what you like then god bless you, but I just don't get wanting to continue to go back over and over and over.

I'm just grateful we have added a real life Renaissance Man here in our ranks to disabuse the mediocre people of The OT that their entertainment choices are déclassé. Would you consider doing an MMA thread or one about fat people? There is so much material out there with all these individual Americans making all these individual choices about their lives. We should lecture them more on the subject of how odd their choices are to us.
This shouldn't bother you as much as it does.

At what point do you put your foot down and say enough with the Mickey Mouse bullshite, let's go somewhere else for the anniversary?

You keep posting stupid shite in this thread. Literally no one said Disney is the best vacation spot in the world. You're creating that in your own mind.

And not a single post saying Disney is the end all be all of vacations. Just people explaining why they like it.

It isn't an either/or thing. You can go to Disney sometimes and still enjoy other vacations.
I've traveled to some pretty amazing places around the world. That doesn't mean I also can't appreciate Disney.

What I get:
-People with young kids looking for something fun to do that their kids will enjoy. It's a fun trip for the kids.
What I don't get:
-Couples in their mid/late-20's or early 30's with no kids who go do Disney World of all places. I went a couple times as a child and had a lot of fun. But I was a child.
-People who go every single year.
-You are young, have no kids and can go anywhere and do anything but choose to spend ~$5000 at Disney. The Roman Colosseum. Machu Picchu. Great Pyramid of Giza. The Beaches of Hawaii. The beaches and party scene in Ibiza. Skiing in the Rockies. An African safari. Yellowstone National Park. ... Cinderella Castle.
-Brutally long lines for any worthwhile rides
-Crowds everywhere
-If you go in the summer it's hot and humid as balls
-Everything is expensive
-People walking around with cartoon costumes
-Disney themed everything
Tell me what I'm missing about not going to Disney World as a late 20's male with a fiance and no kids.
I just have fun there. Have gone as a kid, as an adult with no kids, and as an adult with kids. Have enjoyed it every time and feel like the expense is well worth it because I'm happy when I'm there. But I don't expect it to be for everyone, either. I totally get the crowds/expensive argument.

11 pages of mostly (a) poors who can't afford to go Disney complaining, (b) travel hipsters wanting to be cooler than people who go Disney because they fricking backpacked across Darfur or whatever, and (c) people who enjoy Disney saying it can be fun but isn't for everyone.

And I post about them on the TRAVEL BOARD in a non-condescending way that respects the fact that different people like different things. You aren't freaking James Bond because you are getting on a plane and flying somewhere, you are just another schlub with some disposable income taking a trip.
Let's talk about your jimmies for a second....

I don't care what you say, adult Disney is awesome. If you are waiting in line for more than 20 minutes then you just don't know how to properly plan. Drinking around the world at Epcot, lots of great restaurants at Disney Springs, Aerosmith/ToT/Toy Story/Star Wars at Hollywood, Safari and Everest at AK, and if you don't like Country Bear jambore, then dammit I can't help you... Also, 5k for 2 people for a 5 night vacation to Disney is absurdly overpriced. 2.5k maybe, all in eating at good restaurants and drinking enough for a good buzz.
That being said, my ideal Orlando trip is 1 day at Epcot, 1 day at Hollywood Studios, 1/2 day each at AK/MK, 2 days at Universal.

I have two young kids (3 and 6) and can not stand the thought of Disney. It's my version of hell on earth. Would much rather take them to Hawaii

Wasn't your first post talking about how expressive it is?

She asked about taking kids to Hawaii on the travel board. If it weren't for that, I'd assume she was trolling. Instead, I just don't think she's very smart.
Posted on 1/5/17 at 12:52 pm to ell_13
Hawaii is amazing. Though I'm not sure it is a great vacation for kids.

Your melt thread, not mine. I'm just making the obvious point that you enjoy condescending to people who make different travel choices than you.
