I agree with the OP on most of his points. I have friends that are mid 20s and up that go every year. To each their own.
I went to Epcot last weekend and had a blast but I can't fathom going again. It's ridiculously overpriced. We spent about $450+ for 2 ppl. I would have preferred to go to Vegas and casino bar hopped the entire day and have dinner at a nice steakhouse for around that amount of money.
I get the appeal. Different strokes for different folks.

Genuine question for the adults/couples without children that make Disney a yearly or frequent trip: would you consider DW to be the best vacation you've ever been on? If not, what was?
I just can't imagine going back year after year unless it was your favorite vacation spot.

Wife & I went by ourselves for our first wedding anniversary. Outside of just being in a place where you can forget about everything and revel in the experience Disney has created, there are a ton of things to do without kids.
For instance, we ate at Victoria & Albert's for our anniversary dinner. It's considered one of the top restaurants in Florida and Orlando’s only AAA 5-Diamond award winning restaurant...don't think we would have done/spent that much with a kid in tow.
It's also nice to have a built in designated driver with the bus/monorail system. All the parks serve alcohol other than Magic Kingdom...drinking around the world at Epcot is an experience in and of itself.
On top of that, it was nice to just be by ourselves on our own timeline. When we've gone before we've had to be up at certain hours, be at reservations, etc. We set the timeline and could enjoy it how we wanted to.
I don't think I could go every year but I don't think it's weird for anyone to do so...however them and their family plan vacations is their business. In 2016 we flew to Phoenix, Arizona and drove back to Houston in a rental car stopping along the way; very memorable trip for us. We are going to Ireland in a month. There are tons of things I want to see in the US but Disneyworld (and Universal) are still great vacations.
I don't know where you're getting your pricing from, either. Wife & I spent, maybe, $1000 on tickets and hotel during an off-peak time and spent another $1000 for food/drinks while there. Pretty inexpensive trip if you plan it right.

You keep posting stupid shite in this thread. Literally no one said Disney is the best vacation spot in the world. You're creating that in your own mind.
eta: Also, I'm not sure using Vegas as the alternative is doing you any favors either. People give Disney shite about being all about money. Well, Vegas doesn't look the way it looks because of their philanthropy.

As I said in my above post, wife & I went for our one-year anniversary but were invited exactly a year later with my uncle who paid for our tickets/hotel. They were both great trips but the second time around so soon after we had just been there felt less nostalgic.
I could do Disney every 2-3 years as they are always adding new things (Avatar world/Star Wars Land) alongside Universal staying right alongside Disneyworld.
When my parents brought us kids when I was in middle school it was probably the best trip I had been on. 4 days at Disneyworld followed by a 5 night Disney cruise to Jamaica and Disney's private island in the Caribbean. I've been on a lot of memorable trips but there's something about the service and nostalgia of Disney that brings you back...they know how to keep you hooked.

I can't answer that. I enjoy recreational travel where I hike or cycle or raft or ski or something. I'm also a bit of a low-budget foodie so I pick places with outdoor markets and coffee shops.I take an "international trip" every year with my wife and leave the kids at home. Last year was Dublin this year is Barcelona. I enjoy the things I enjoy. And I post about them on the TRAVEL BOARD in a non-condescending way that respects the fact that different people like different things.
You aren't freaking James Bond because you are getting on a plane and flying somewhere, you are just another schlub with some disposable income taking a trip. The point is that I understand the basic concept that it's not strange for other people to have different tastes in travel and entertainment. There is absolutely nothing weird about adults enjoying Disney World on an annual basis if it brings them happiness.

I hate the fact that they did away with Star Wars Weekends and the Star Wars Sci-Fi Dine In breakfast...

Frick Disney World. I will gladly pay a family member to take my kids to that God forsaken place.

I have two young kids (3 and 6) and can not stand the thought of Disney. It's my version of hell on earth. Would much rather take them to Hawaii or Caribbean.

Disney for adults is creepy. I just assume they're all there to have weird sex with Goofy.

The mid 20's couple choosing to honeymoon to Disney blows my damn mind.
A friend of mine went for his senior trip.. Then when he got married (I was actually in his wedding) he went there for his honeymoon. I didn't get it at all.

This is a pretty good sentence that will get glossed over in this thread.

Take them hiking in the national parks, let them swim in a mountain stream, take them fishing and wrestle a giant amberjack to the surface. Take them to see living breathing buffalo herds and bears and elk and bighorn sheep. They get their heads filled w enuf fake crap from their cellphones and the web and TV. Why compound that by taking them to faux ersatz Disneyworld which no sane adult gives one rat about?
Have yourself an upvote.

I know someone who got married there and they go back every single year for their anniversary.
His wife is a Disney fanatic and he just plays along with it.
I'd off myself before doing that.

Again, it's impossible for some of you even fathom the possibility that people can do all of that AND go to Disney World isn't it?

You are young, have no kids and can go anywhere and do anything but choose to spend ~$5000 at Disney.
Even at a moderate resort with the deluxe dining plan and park hopper tickets 6 nights, you're at $3500. Did you just pull $5000 out of your arse
