What's with your obsession of caring about what others enjoy doing with their time and money? Get over yourself and stop worrying about what others do.
I find people interesting. I often wonder what motivates people to behave in the ways that they do. Like, for instance, your post. Is this the wrong forum for such inquiries and musings?

1. Disney world is fun. They have enough dofferent things to do that as long as one's not there during a peak weekend like Easter or New Year's that anyone can have a good time. It all jus depends on: weather, crowds, who you go with.
2. Dragging around kids in an amusement park is a PITA. A young couple in an amusement park will likely have a lot more fun than 2 parents in an amusement park with 3 screaming brats who can't decide what they want to do. If you go with your wife during a low-traffic time, the lines are almost non-existent, you two don't have to argue with a bunch of other people on what rides to go on, and you can truly enjoy yourselves and the time together.
3. Some families make it into a tradition. I, personally, would not, but different strokes for different folks.
4. While Disney can cost $5k, it doesn't have to. They have real scalable experiences that make it affordable for most anyone. A disney trip is what you're willing to make it. Spending more can give one extra priveleges. Personally, I would travel the world, but that's not everyone's bag.

Going to disneyworld annually as a single adult or a couple with no children is not "normalcy."

This summer we're going to Mackinac Island in Michigan.

Incorrect, tbh. Especially on the second count.

I wouldn't compare Disney to Six Flags. One is characters and actors the other has 70 mph 200 ft roller coasters.
I agree two adults hitting every thrill ride and drinking beer at Six Flags is easier without kids, but two adults taking pics with Cinderella and riding tea cups with no kids is weird as frick.

I think it's somewhere between normal and not normal.

Tiana was pretty damn smoking. I dunno whoever they had playing Rapunzel that day was so damn fine.
I didn't get to see those other 3. I think I was drunk in Epcot the day they met Tinkerbell and Jasmine.

Me and the kids did breakfast in Cinderella's Castle and ever single one of the princesses were fine as frick. They gave my kids a little extra attention.

Oh, come now. I'm not telling you to stop enjoying Disney World. That's between you and Disney World, and no one can ever take that away from you.

Your post is a vailed attempt for you to act superior of others because you think it's weird for people to enjoy certain things. Maybe they grew up going to Disney and they want to share that with their SO. Maybe they enjoy theme parks and everything else that Orlando offers.

its normal enough that almost everyone knows someone that does it
so in that regard, it's pretty normal

And yet I imagine it feels perfectly normal for the millions of Americans who do it. Having season tickets to the symphony orchestra, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Red Rocks concert series are not "normal" either. Unless you are the one doing it, in which case it is perfectly normal. Not sure why grown men are so outraged about the normal choices that other people make with their entertainment dollar.

Well for a Vol fan named Pecker anything even remotely normal might be a little too much.

I have friends that got married there and go every year. They have gone every year for probably 30 years and took a Disney cruise a few years ago. They don't have kids, either.
I don't get it. They don't get why I go to a hockey game every year for my birthday or why I want season tickets to the Dodgers. Just different tastes. They do their thing and I do mine.

You do realize there are other rides at Disney, right? Just Magic Kingdom has Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Thunder Mountain Railroad. Animal Kingdom has Everest, dinosaur, the river rafting ride, and prehistoric whirl. Epcott has Soarin', Test Track, and the outer space ride. Hollywood Studios has the Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, and Star Tours.
Plus, some of the little rides like Tea Cups, the Haunted House, and Pirates of the Caribbean are fun nostalgia experiences.
Seriously, get your stick out of your a$$ and live a little. Disney for young couples with no kids during a time without massive crowds and terrible weather can be a blast.
