Probably not the worst thing in the world, but for me, the “Eastern Mess Hall” on a FPSO I was working off the coast of Africa. “Western Mess Hall” smelled like steak and potatoes.

anyone that says anything that a rotting human corpse has never smelled one up close and personal - especially at that ripe time in hot weather - nothing else is close.

been involved with several dozen. it's a smell you don't forget. fwiw the first was a guy out on bond for kid touching. he'd shotgunned his brains good but in the meantime before we got him a bear or mountain lion had taken his left arm and most of his guts. was pretty gnarly

I used to work for a pool cleaning company and we were opening this lady‘s above ground pool and found three dead squirrels lying at the bottom. They were perfectly preserved by the water pressure - it looked like they were sleeping. Hit one with the net and it exploded. When we pulled it out, the smell sent us flying across the yard gagging. Boss insisted we bag them up and dump them in the ladies trashcan. I still wonder how she reacted the next time she opened it. Never saw that customer again.

Had an elderly patient as an EKG tech in Baton Rouge who fell in the shower with the max hot water on and then stayed at home for over a week before coming in.

Horrendous smell.

Pogey factory

Early 1980's Border Patrol in Lake Charles got a tip that illegals were working in the Pogey plant in Cameron. These agents were gung ho about catching illegals and loved doing it. They drove down and when they arrived at the plant looked at each other, no way they were going in and anyone who worked there wasn't going to bothered by them.

I had 2 roommates and After my first year of pharmacy school, I went back to MS, one roommate went back to Miami , the other went back to Georgia . The Georgia roommate was the last to leave for the summer

Apparently either in a “frick you” mode or a moment of beyond frugalness.. he unplugged the fridge so it wouldn’t waste electricity all summer

My mom and I visited at some point over the summer and o opened the fridge to get a Dr Pepper and it smelled like death

Maggots everywhere in the freezer . Months long rotted food in the summer.

It was the grossest thing I’ve ever smelled.
