An actual fight at Sonic
Posted on 7/28/23 at 11:27 pm to TwentyFourEight
I worked in a plant that had a train come in every evening and connect to full railcars to pull them out. One guy got caught between two railcars as they were being coupled. The guy didn’t die right away as the coupled cars kept him from bleeding out. Had enough time to call his wife out to see and talk to him before they uncoupled the cars. He died right after they separated the railcars.

Edit: this thread is thwacking the ol' memory banks and I am not going to sleep well tonight. Thanks OT!
I don't lose sleep over it, but I would love to know who was in that scarecrow costume and what they were doing in my friend's corn field at that time of night.

Back when LSU upset Florida after their national championship . I saw a girl cone out of a tailgating tent Butt arse naked running through the parking lot with a guy chasing her he was also but naked with a huge strap on and a gorilla mask. The girl circled the parking lot screaming ran back in the tent and the guy did the same.
All of this was at 10:30 in the morning man LSU tailgating was so much fun at the time.
Maybe that was Chicken with that gorilla mask

I seen a crane like the one pictured flipped over with the tracks in the air. He flipped carrying some huge slings that are used to lift production platforms off the barge and onto the jacket.

The fire at Notre Dame in Paris.
I posted about it here on the Travel Board that night.

I heard this story when I worked at Valero in 2010ish. They never told me where it happened at

To hell with all the gory and depressing shite some of y'all have had the misfortune of witnessing...but this one gets my vote for "thread winner"

I saw a guy get hit in the face with a ball peen hammer during a fight.

I saw a 6'5" headliner stripper with double D bolt ons swinging a big sword to "Princes of the Universe" (i.e, the Highlander theme).
I tipped her a dollar, and she smashed her knockers into my face. My buddy was in the bathroom when she was on stage, and he thought I was lying.
This was the 80s. As I got older, others have tried to convince me that "she" might have been a guy. I was pretty drunk, so whatever.

It's happened more than once.
Didn't see it myself, but same thing happened to a switchman at the BRC Clearing yard in Chicago when I was taking a train out.
Getting coupled up is something guys are warned/trained about but as usual some guys forget the rulebook is written in blood. There is a reason you are supposed to have at least 50 feet between cars before going between them.
Wildest thing I saw on the rails, other than hitting tresspassers at 60MPH, was one of these that I hit between Chicago and Milwaukee;
African Sable Antelope that escaped from a game farm.

My sister borrowed my car to pick up my nephew from school on a rainy day. As she was turning down our street in Zachary, a car rear-ended her. Emergency vehicles parked on the road while the vehicles were cleared. I was standing on the side of the road with my nephew. Traffic was stopped both directions (Old Scenic Hwy); I looked up and saw an 18-wheeler that was not stopping. I grabbed my nephew and pull him aside and the 18-wheeler passed within ten feet of us. It plowed into a cop car and a fire rescue vehicle, then flipped on its side into a ditch. I ran to the truck and helped the truck driver climb out.
Weird day.
Weird day.

Car hit by train
Maybe I'm missing something, but getting hit by a train seems to be the most avoidable disaster ever. Those frickers are big and loud and usually honk their loud-arse horn when they are closing in on you. I don't see how people end up dying via train wreck.

Number of years ago (2-4?) just coming across the Madisonville bridge towards Mandeville just past Nunmaker’s and this van coming from the opposite way just comes slamming across into this SUV about 3-4 cars ahead of me. It rolled way down the embankment on its side.
Shock watching then reality and jumped out to help. Several others had done the same and we gathered in seconds and pushed the SUV back upright and opened the doors to teens, family inside shellshocked but I think okay. The driver of the van was I recall an older women who just freaked out somehow. She was apparently okay. The shrimp guy was one of the ones helping the suv.

Working as medical staff Endymion ball circa 2007. Got a call about a fall from a float. I figured someone just fell off the last step exiting because they were drunk.
The guy had exited too early and the float took off to finish the route. He fell and got stuck underneath the float. He was drug a good 75 to 100 yards. I arrive to essentially a hemicorpectomy with 2/3 of the remnant chest wall in little pieces along the trail behind the float. The bottom torso isn’t there. I’m looking at lung tissue taking agonal breaths as the lungs expand and contract.
I see that occasionally as I drift off to sleep nearly 15 years later.

When I was 10 or 11 I was on my way back from a camping trip with my grandpa. We were coming over the willamette pass between Bend and Eugene, it was the middle of the summer so the weather was beautiful. Not a cloud in the sky, no snow, nothing.
We were riding behind a semi with no trailer when said semi suddenly lost control going around a very tight hairpin corner and hit the guardrail head on. Two people in the truck went through the windshield and over the guardrail. It was well over a hundred feet down a sheer cliff to the creek bed below where they landed. I will never forget that moment as long as I live.
And no. They definitely didn’t live.
