I've always found this strange. I have a brother-in-law who's like this. My dad was the same way. Yet both of them can tie down a load with a rope and knot like nobody's business.
The whole reason ratchet straps were invented was because they were much easier and faster than tying down loads with a rope and knot. It would be like somebody preferring an abacus to a calculator.
