hand squeezing lemonade at blue bayou for $4 an hour when I was 16. Walked out when I burnt my hand on a funnel cake machine and my manager basically said STFU and get back to work.

I don't know if it was the shittiest, but the hottest job, was working at a small marine specialist in BR summer before college. 104 degrees in the summer. Melting zinc anodes in 1200 degree oven, inside a tin building with no air/ventilation other than the large rolling door. It was a little warm.

I was a fire watch for a turnaround the summer after I graduated from high school. The job description was basically pace back and forth and fight your sleep for 12+ hours a day.

Is that like a fire lookout...the guys up on the mountains in the tower?
I’ve always wondered how boring of a job that must have been. Sit there all damn day just waiting to see smoke. Not to mention the hike up and down with all your gear.

Most I've seen had roads. Seems like an awesome job to me.

Since it's SLA, I am going to guess that he was a fire watch for welders. The job is to quite literally just sit there and watch a certain number of welders within a certain distance and make sure no fire starts.

When I lived out west... all the towers were accessed by foot trails only. I’m talking 9 to 10k foot tall mountains. No roads going that high.
The view would be awesome...but the boredom would eventually get to me.

First "engineering" job out of college. Was a place in Houston that was more of a manufacturing plant that had its engineers (electrical, civil, industrial mainly) basically cut certain sections out of a PDF for whatever the client ordered. Then highlight what was needed. Learned nothing at all. Not to mention I lived on the North side of Houston and the job was basically by Hobby Airport. Imagine that drive down 45 at 7am...
On top of that, learned nothing at all. My boss was this Russian lady who didn't want anyone communicating in the office, no music, only use a break if you really needed it, and no "visiting" your neighbors. If you had a question, go to her. Just to watch her go to the person you were going to go to to begin with...
Needless to say, the place was in the crapper already. They even have a 1 star review

One summer during college I worked for a contractor in a chemical plant. I didn't do one specific job. I guess it could be said that I was a gofer. One day I would be firewatch, the next day I would take the company truck and go pick up supplies, the next day would work in the supply warehouse unpacking boxes of parts, etc. The variety of things I was assigned was pretty good because it was always something different. But the plant was hot, humid, dirty, and smelly. At the end of the day, my clothes stunk. When I got home, my mom made me take off my clothes on the patio and put them directly in the washing machine.

When I was 19, I ran an incinerator for medical waste at a hospital. It was disgusting.

I had a job delivering spacewalks and inflatable slides to people in Baton Rouge
Did that as well and it was easily my favorite part time job. We’d deliver in the morning, hang out at the shop and drink/smoke pot in the mid day then head to the delivery spots to pickup in the afternoons. The taller wet slides were heavy as frick but we made good money for HS/College guys.

My first summer job when I was 15 or 16. I worked in a giant warehouse that never heard of A/C moving stuff, loading/unloading furniture. I got paid $8 an hour. It was tough work, but what made it 10x harder was being a football player. I would go to work there everyday from 8-4. Then at 4:30 I had football practice. If I showed up late or even looked like I was going slow through workouts my coach would chew my arse out and have me do extra laps.
It wasnt that bad though because at the time as a teenager with no bills and my parents still paid for everything including cell phone bills, I thought I was absolutely balling. I was able to buy lots of video games, candy and movie tickets.

It was at a Motiva refinery. Lol, I wish it was up in the mountains. I just watched a job site that had some torch cutting and welding going on and made sure the site stayed clean and fire-free. It sucked.
