In the final judgement there will be an absences and tardy column

Do you really think you get partial credit for 20 mins? Every minute you miss is a tear from baby Jesus.
If you really view religious service as getting credit, then you are missing the entire point.
Plus, why are you worried that another person is coming in late or not? Unless that person was disruptive and disturbed the service, it shouldn’t matter to you.
Ideally you are going to church to worship God, enjoy Christian fellowship and seek God’s presence in a corporate setting.

He mailed it in for a few weeks and did a thing where he tried to show Christianity in movies like Black Panther, Lion King, etc. It's just silly. My wife was invited by someone to attend and went once out of kindness but refused any further invites.
Yes let's try to bring people out of their worldly lives by serving them up a watered down version of what they already do at home.

Whats the point of going to Mass
Nothing says “I’m blessed” like a bleeding Jew nailed to some wood

No credit on that one.
Our priest likes to stroll around in church and at the entrance and shake hands and blab. He may not start Mass until 5-8 mins after the published start time. Most late folks will have a hiney in the seat by then!

Many folks in their teens and 20s want something that's real, not put-on. At least, that's what I read in articles and hear from Catholics younger-than-me.

Do you practice Orthodoxy in Baton Rouge?

Who the frick cares about Mass in general? What a dull, tortuous affair.
People who believe Jesus is God.
People who try to appease others or look important.

There’s still time to bring your boy to the alter to get fondled if you hurry...

They have started a bunch of protestant bullshite at several churches I've been to, and I like to skip all that. Standing to shake hands with the stranger next to you. frick that shite. We're catholic.
Have an upvote.
And hang on while I go log in as my alter, so I can upvote it again.

People will not stop hanging out after and talking, especially in many parishes after the main morning Mass, so many now do doughnuts and such afterwards so people stay. Where I play, some stay upwards of 15-20 minutes especially outside of football season, or on Sundays when the Saints have the late game.
I think this is wonderful, and a part of the Mass as a gathering. It takes us a 15 minutes or so to break down and put the equipment up after Mass, and there are always a good number of folks standing in the pews or the aisles just visiting with friends. I love seeing it.

This idea that 65 year-olds strumming guitars is still "youth ministry" is looked at by many young Catholics as pandering and fake. Many folks in their teens and 20s want something that's real, not put-on.
I'm 53 and have been playing guitar for years as accompaniment to 3-7 very talented high school girls who sing at the youth Mass. Either I or the music director mention before each youth Mass that "Mr. Curmudgeon wants and needs some help with guitar" but have had only a couple HS guys show up for a couple weeks each then disappear.
If they "want real" they're welcome to it. If they stayed and played for the singers and congregation I would stop showing up, but they don't so I keep at it. It's the least I can do.

You technically get credit as long as you're there for the Eucharist.
But it's also good to remember who invented leaving Mass early.

If you are that late and have a short time left, might as well just let it go for the day

usually, yes, it'd fit, but not in this narrow instance. They are some beautiful young ladies, and I'm very fond of each of them, but something about this situation puts everything in check. It's all about contributing to the Mass.

Nah I'm just LARPing. I was raised Catholic, though honestly I am curious to go check out one of their masses. Othodox churches are so few and far between in the South. A quick google in Baton Rouge yields only two. Here's St. Matthew the Apostle Orthodox Church:
