Agree. I do not like the Protestentation trend of the Church.

This translates to "I want my church to slowly die and be for no on else but me". The act of being friendly to other people isn't a Protestant act.

Catholics aren’t Christian anyway. As is quite obvious by the catholic posters in this thread. So it really doesn’t matter.

Best thing about being Catholic/Episcopalian.

Those 30 minute Baptist/Methodist sermons are brutal.

You technically get credit as long as you're there for the Eucharist.

Actually, I believe Vatican 2 answered this question with a mandate that you be there in time for the gospel reading. So the definition of actually attending mass is attendance in time for the gospel until at least the Eucharist is taken

I'm 53 and have been playing guitar for years as accompaniment to 3-7 very talented high school girls who sing at the youth Mass. Either I or the music director mention before each youth Mass that "Mr. Curmudgeon wants and needs some help with guitar" but have had only a couple HS guys show up for a couple weeks each then disappear. If they "want real" they're welcome to it. If they stayed and played for the singers and congregation I would stop showing up, but they don't so I keep at it. It's the least I can do.

That is the other thing the young people want. If they have committed musicians involved, it makes all the difference in their eyes. We are the same age, I cut my teeth on what you do, but as I read the documents over the last 40 years (I got involved in 1981 and have not stopped) I got away from what you do. But the young folks want their peers involved, and it transcends musical genre to some extent. This I discovered 20 or so years ago.

But it's also good to remember who invented leaving Mass early.

I see what you did there.
