Yes. New Orleans feel in some parts but without as much culcha. You probably wont get mugged/shot/raped on King st.

Why don’t you ask this question on a Charleston SC based website?

It’s the ugly, red-headed, stepsister of Savannah.

Quality destination for 3 or 4 days. King St has a good mix of shopping, food, bars, etc. Fairly clean. Tons of history to explore and picturesque homes to walk around and view downtown. Then there’s a handful of beautiful plantations outside of town if that’s your thing.

Beautiful people.

Beautiful town.

I’ve been everywhere and would like to hate on it, but it’s a great town.

My wife says Charleston is like a smaller version of New Orleans, but without the smell of piss and beer.

Good town. Lot to do especially if you are a history buff. Even if you’re not it’s a good place.Someone did mention the Yankees have taken over and they have to a certain extent but not as bad as Hilton Head

New Orleans, in spite of all of it´s shortcomings, is exponentially more sophisticated and complex (and therefore, more interesting).

Charleston is white bread and mahonesa in comparison (but head and shoulders above Savannah, good God, I can´t believe that post).

The money came in and and Charleston lost a lot of its soul.

It’s clean and safe though.
