Back during the pandemic when cruises were starting back up I won a free royal caribbean "test cruise" for the wife and I.
The ship was only allowed to sail at 10% capacity but had to be fully staffed and it was glorious. It was at least 5 crew members to every one guest.
The value of the cruise we took, on the ship we did, in the suite we had is valued at somewhere near $5000 or so for two people

I won an essay contest for National Geographic when I was in middle school. Myself and 14 other kids with a parent got flown to the Galápagos Islands and got to sail around them for a week visiting a bunch of different ones and interacting with the wildlife. Snorkeling with sea turtles, sea lions, penguins and iguanas all at the same time is an unbelievable experience. This all happened 17 years ago.

I won a smoker built by a welding class from the vo-tech at the Sand Bass Festival in Madill, Oklahoma several years ago. Tickets were 5 or 10 a piece and I bought two. Things a beast. Made out of 3/8" thick steel and can turn out some great bbq.

exact same story with exact same game 20 something years ago, except I was at Isle of Carpi in Lake Charles and I took me and my friend to shitty strip club in Sulphur instead of buffet, hahaha

I once won a Marlboro neon sign, which was gold for a college student. I had the thing two weeks before my roommate's blind brother knocked it over and broke it.

The Genetic Lottery.
Brains, looks, athletic ability, talent. Success in every endeavor, touchdowns, walk-off homers, last-second 3-pointers, cheerleaders, and endless O-T 9s.

Personally? A gigantic fricking ghetto blaster back in the mid-80s.
In my family, my mother has won a giant prize package including a trip and a free family membership to a recreation spot while my FIL won a very expensive hunting lodge stay.

Won a custom fishing rod(worth roughly $400) back in 1992 at a family fun day at my dad's work. I caught the biggest catfish so I got the rod. Never used it since my dad said it was a "trophy". Come to find out, he sold it for $200.

$22k playing Caribbean stud. I was playing the progressive. I drew a straight flush which was 10% of jackpot. Jackpot was $220k. It was a blessing I was young and didn’t have pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. Paid off debt.

A small black and white portable tv with a 2” screen. It was a loooong time ago and really wasn’t worth much at all.

Won $5000 for 2nd place in Marburgers speckled trout tournament that used to run for 2 months out of Galveston. 9 lb 2oz.
Was in first for quite awhile. First was a 18’ CC with 150HP Mercury and trailer. Worth about $18K at the time.
Used prize money to buy some guns. Still have my Beretta 9mm that I bought back then.
