What's The Longest You Ever Worked On Something That Ended Up Not Being Needed?

Anyone ever put about 60 hrs into something and then a decision was made to not go in that direction, in which what you worked on wasn't needed anymore?

I spent about 10 hours one weekend changing the timing cover gasket on a 2003 Ford Taurus. Turn out that is not what was leaking coolant.
Had to the the heater core the next weekend. With a cheat it only took about 2 hours.

One time I started a thread on the secrant called “As the bayou boils” all about the legal strife of LSU’s head coach Will Wade. It took quite a few hours for the initial OP, not including all the hours I spent updating it. Turns out nothing happened to Will Wade at all. At that point, I didn’t bother updating it.

60 hours is nothing. I’ve had month long projects involving a team of 15-20 people get shelved at a former job.

I've definitely spent months working on cases for work that end up in a decline. Not all day, every day. But lots of time and effort wasted.
