Worked on a novel for two years, managed to get a NYC agent, they tried to sell it for 6 months and I foolishly took it away from them before they found a buyer, thinking "Time wasted".
Have been working on the rewrite tree months after a seven year hiatus. Now, I'm thinking NYT Best Seller potential.
Have changed the plot somewhat. It is now about an insignificant poultry character who hits the internet big time, flirting with a pack of tigers.
Lots of potential with a plethora of available sub-plots to fall back on. I have moved to Key West, am pushing 1,908 pages and writing hard every day that I am not soused on Old Charter and fishing for tarpon.

I'm spot bitching about his continual bitching.

Anyone ever put about 60 hrs into something and then a decision was made to not go in that direction, in which what you worked on wasn't needed anymore?
So yeah all the time
Probably less than 10% of the projects I scope come to fruition.

60 hours?
I used to work in product development. There was a product I worked on for over a year, traveling internationally multiple times, that turned out to be a backup plan that wasn't needed.
So it goes. The next product I worked on was widely used, and still is.

For once I'll bite
Yes 4 months on a project and it got scrapped as the landowner backed out at the last minute. We ended up starting a new design for an adjacent property the next day that was going to have be completely different. Very disheartening to me. I guess some people it wouldnt bother

I was once drunk on the lake and my ski boat wouldn’t start and spent 4 hours floating dead in the water taking the engine apart. Came to realize my elbow had accidentally hit the kill switch that you connect to your wrist in case you fall out

My college degree. A lot of time, I make more money with my current job that is unrelated to my degree. Downside is I travel alot.
