UBS Arena in Elmont NY to hotel on 12th St Manhattan after an Eagles concert. 25 miles / an hour with traffic. He was waiting for anyone who needed an Uber. When I told him destinations, he plugged it onto his phone and give me a price.

Never on my phone, so I figured he was doing it off the clock. He was very talkative throughout the trip. As we were getting close to the destination, I called him out on being off the clock and charging me the full Uber price.

He admitted it and told me to pay him what I felt was fair. I paid him 60% of what his original price was. Said it was more than he would have made on the Uber app.

Amen to that. I dont fly because I cant drive the plane

I'm a great car driver. You don't want me flying the plane. That's gonna end badly for everyone.

Good timing on this thread. I'm putting an employee who's car broke down in an Uber later, was wondering how much this would cost me to get him home.

Probably should have rented a car for that one.

I am thankful for the service. I had my transmission valve replaced the other day. Today I couldnt get out of first gear or start it after pulling over. I am betting they misaligned the linkage. Either way Uber saved my arse today

This was before Uber existed, but I got stranded in College Station after an LSU football game. Got too comfortable at the bar I was at and didn’t make it back to the bus in time. Took a cab from College Station back to Houston. Driver used to work at Disney World and told stories about his time there the entire drive.

I ordered an uber from walk on’s by lsu to Metairie. I quickly found out the driver was heading back to Metairie (came up to BR to get surge fares for lsu game) and we negotiated cancelling the ride and I gave her $50 cash

Once had a plane get diverted to Shreveport. We landed at 12am. No rental cars, no flights out until 3pm next day. I had Ubered to hotel and when I told the driver the story, he offered to take me home to Denham Springs. I said yes, work trip and I wasn’t paying. 4 hour ride. I paid for gas separately and left a hefty tip, but the ride itself was ~$400. Slept the whole way. Didn’t get in trouble with the boss either.

I had to go from MSY to BTR once. My truck was at BTR, but flights were shut down due to ice, so I flew to MSY. It was over $200, but my work paid for it.

The longest recorded Uber ride was a
~40-hour, 2,250-mile journey from Greenville, South Carolina, to Los Angeles, California, taken by YouTuber Mr. Beast in October 2017. The trip cost thousands of dollars, far exceeding typical long-distance rides, which usually hover around 300–600 miles.
