I'm not a OT baller and mow my own yard, so I haven't checked these prices lately.

My son is 12 and has interest in offering to cut some yards in our small country residential neighborhood.

Nobody has super manicured yards or anything, but there are several big open yards that people pay to have mowed.

I told him he could offer to do the first cut for cheap and if they liked his job then give them an official rate.

He can weed eat as well.

Figured he could ask a good bit less than the mowing companies and make some money on a few yards.

UPDATE: He got two yards for 75 a piece. Made about 1500 this summer so far.

They are paying him the same as what they paid the commercial guys.

They both seemed to really like the idea of helping a kid out and paying him instead.

I’ve been repeatedly quoted $50-60 per cut on a .30 acre lot in a residential neighborhood.

$30-40. People are going to want edging as well.

Depends on size of the lot. Also, push or riding? If a decent size and weed eating, 50 would be my minimum.

50 seems a little low considering gas and wear on the mower for some of these yards.

Like 50 for a acre? Half acre?

Mow, trim, and clean up is typically $40-$50

Probably $50 with fuel cost

Good luck to him.

Personally I wouldn't pay a 12 year old to cut my grass for fear of something happening on the property. If it was my nephew and my sister wanted him to learn the value of money, I'd pay him a fair rate. Mow, blow, and go on 1/4 acre lot, I'd give him $50-60.

Riding mower.

Smallest is an acre.

Nobody edges, just weed eat, and maybe blow off stuff.

Then I would say 75 - 100 and would lean harder towards 100. Gas ain't cheap, either.

I wouldn’t even step foot in a yard for less than $50

Ignoring the fact that I would never pay a child to ride a mower on my property, If it's just straight mowing an acre with a riding mower, I'd pay $60. This is all obviously not on the up and up so if he scalps my yard I'm definitely knocking $10-20 off.

Easy money for the kid. He can even borrow my bluetooth headphones and listen to Tim Dillon in this hypothetical.

What dis is?

No offense to you or your son, but I’m not hiring a 12 year old to do my yard work.

I'd purposely scalp the shite out of your yard if I was a kid

This is about what I was thinking.

Offer to do for 50 the first time with knowledge that if he does a good job it would be 100 a acre.

For an acre I'd start at 80, string triming is 5 cents a foot. Measure it on google earth.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure alot of them won't do anything for even more than that in my area.

Now a huge suburb maybe. But not where you have to drive miles between jobs.
