Give yourself some credit. You were a solid 4:14 guy.

Some fast dudes in here

I was pumped to break 6:30 in college. Even more pumped when I break 8:00 now

Probably more like 5:14 shape now, but I'm sure my beer mile is as strong as ever.

Tense matters.

I USED to be pretty fast.

Zappa needs to post his bests. I think he is still in the top 10 list for the LSU track team 5k

Is he in the elite company of those who have ran faster than 16 seconds for a 5k?

Has anyone in this thread also run a marathon?

I've done 3. Last one was 11 years ago.

Seriously, one year the track admins just asked us to write down what our best times were because they didn't have accurate records. Any all-time list for LSU is suspect.

Not only that, but I heard he went #2 on someone property at Tunica. Not sure why he didn't use the facility at his resident before. Ok cool.

I've done several marathons. Never happy about my time. Hit 20 miles at 2:00 a couple times then crashed. 2:46:25 was best. Qualified for Boston, Ironman Triathlon and offered sponsorship to the Western States 100. I don't recommend marathons. This was early '80s.

I did one about 20 years ago. I did a 4:05, with the first half in 1:49. I've never felt as much agony and never wanted to do another one.

Also got offered to try blood doping while in the Air Force and turned it down.

23 min 5K when I was 21 in the Army. My fastest APFT was a 13:02 2 mile run and that was a few months out of Basic Training.

I ran 5 flat about 7 times in high school and never could break that sucker. Probably could now but my knees give me too much trouble to train for it. My 3 mile PR is 16:56, so whatever that translates to for a 5k. Probably around 17:25. Never ran a 10k competitively.
