Really enjoyed Dukes campus. Thought Stanford was pretty cool — just so different from anything in south (that I’ve seen)

I have not been to many college campuses. But whenever I'm in Houston, I make a point to take a walk around Rice's campus. It is so much more structured and rigid in its layout compared to many campuses, especially LSU. It is also immaculately maintained. Very nice place...

Certainly saw some sites on the way to Rhodes on a visit. Reminded me of BR and not in a good way

You know, all the money and technology these days why don’t we ever build anything amazing anymore? Those old buildings are architecturally magnificent. Everything today is so cheap and bland looking

Check out this new building at Vanderbilt:

UVA, Notre Dame were the nicest in the states that I've been to. Trinity College in Dublin was really nice

The Library was bad arse, there was a line to get into it. Home to the Book of Kells

No Southern Miss shoutouts in Hattiesburg?

I'm biased, but USM is really nice outside of its now-decrepit athletic facilities. The front of the campus is a very symmetrical classic Dixie-style campus with oaks, columns, and a big copper dome. Along the periphery you have a combination of interesting modern, brutalist, and neoclassical buildings. The campus is on the nice side of town and integrates well with neighborhoods where the faculty can live comfortably.

There's a certain warmth and chaos that you miss out on many otherwise superior campuses. I admire the clean, severe right angles of a place like Mississippi State or Clemson, and their football stadiums, but they feel more serious than uplifting, being designed by farmers and engineers.

(Incidentally, LSU exhibits this same warm virtue.)

There's honestly no shortage of anything you'd want at USM, except good football.
