What's the best time/way to tell your parents about hearing aids?

The TV is always at about 147 decibels at their place. Both of them are proud people and won't like it.

InB4: Don't whisper when you tell them.

Around dinner time, so maybe 5:30pm, and quietly.

If they have hearing aids, they’re doing it wrong.

Right after you tell them you’re moving back into their basement.

When a Miracle Ear commercial comes on, get their attention and mouth "you need that".

Honestly, most people get hearing aids when one individual can't hear and the other is tired of hearing the tv blaring. Since both of your parents have trouble hearing, maybe they are ok with the tv being loud.

Honestly, decent hearing aids cost a literal fortune and even then, they are hit and miss as to whether they fit and function well enough for people to use them.

That said, I have a couple of coworkers who got them after our insurance started paying for them and both of their lives were changed pretty substantially.

Probably by yelling

Help them with process.

Say it's for safety. It is.

They can't drive safely, they can't hear Boogeyman.

Deal with it for them.
Ascertain what their issues are. If they don't know ask them to make appointment and find out in writing with prescription.

Otherwise they will be stuck at every turn.

My dad spent about 7k on hearing aids and never wears them. It's bad. I have to yell at him all the time. He goes Turkey hunting without them and bitches about not hearing Turkey. Here is how I handled it:

"DAD YOU ARE frickING DEAF LIFE WOULD BE EASIER FOR ALL OF US IF YOU WORE YOUR HEARING AIDS"

My mother doesn't wear hearing aids. Any time she says "what", I say "turn up the volume on your hearing aids!" Then she says "I dont have hearing aids" then I laugh and look at my dad.
