He should have put it on a pedestal...

When did the OT’s standards drop? Didn’t think she would get over a 0.9.

Fun fact: It was named after Marissa Thomei’s character in My cousin Vinny

Many things interesting about it, The sheerness of the veil on her head is one of my favorites as well as the smile and eyes. Try to draw what you see in the painting, it’s a real test of skill. I’ve read that it took DaVinci 16 years of working on this painting to get it to the point where he was satisfied with it. That is real dedication. It is smaller than I expected.

Interesting fact: Napoleon displayed it in his bedroom for a while.

What is difference about the shapes in the Mona Lisa compared to any other painting?

This is a serious question:

have you ever been to any of the world's great museums? The Louvre, the D'Orsay, the Uffizi, The Vatican Museums, the Prado, etc etc?

If so, you can literally see the evolution of art. Then you can appreciate how crude it was, and then the progression into what it became, and appreciate what masters like Da Vinci did to transform it.

I'm no OT baller, but I personally think stuff like the Mona Lisa and the Statue of David are very appreciated. Especially for those who understand how they understood the technique and craft at the time. It's like building an iPhone when everyone is still using bagphones.

But honestly, Art has gone to shite in the last couple hundred years or so. Rather than focus on technique or skill the entire scene has become a bunch of elitists crafting messages to show other artists what their views are. I think the last piece of art that got any mainstream attention was the golden "America" toilet.

The only "modern art" I can really bring myself to respect are things like comic books, cartoons, and computer graphics from movies and video games. Because of that it's harder to get into the older art, because all I've known my life of "art" is a bunch of snobs.

It's because it's such an incredibly difficult painting. We are so used to computer generated optics now, that we forget how hard it is to accomplish that by hand.

The expression in her eyes, the subtle curl of her lips. That's impressive.

YUP! Spent a whole damn day in the lourve and started hearing over the loud speaker that they were closing soon. Me and the wife sprinted across that massive arse place to see the mona lisa before it closed.... our only thought was...wow...that's it. Guess I can say I saw it though so that's nice

The one time I saw it there was about 300 Chinese people in front of me so I didn't get that close a look. I'll live.

For real, did you get fired from a plant job or something? You are constantly making references like this and it clearly bothers you
