Menopause with your wife is like owning a car you’ve really loved for years and all the sudden all the warning lights start coming on

Well isn't this thread just lovely.

About the same as living with a woman who isn't menopausal except for the whole "no sex thing". Unfortunately the "sex thing" is what makes living with a woman tolerable....
Just kidding. But only about the latter. My wife is now post menopausal and there is significantly less sex but we still enjoy one another's company. I would be lost without her and at 61 I ain't the stud I once was anyway.....

Mine did not unfortunately. Was threatened with divorce on 9 different occasions over the last 3 years before she finally filed. Emotional swings all over the dang place.

Thank you for this I’m going to ask for a cortisone shot.
Definitely do. It helped.

My oncologist absolutely won’t let me get on HRT but menopause hasn’t been too bad for me except for the hot flashes. I did buy a bed jet.
The high risk breast clinic gave me the OK for HRT within reason and monitored by the doc. So I’m holding off a bit until I’m more symptomatic.
I’ve found some relief going the more organic route and adding flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, and more cruciferous vegetables. With some occasional tofu. They can all help regulate estrogen levels (make the drops less severe) without raising too much (increasing risk).
ETA: Also magnesium for issues with sleep

what about sex drive?
Posted on 10/26/26 at 2:30 pm to Vacherie Saint
Drive is good but I’m also not in full blown menopause.
Part of the issue with the estrogen dropping (the largest hormonal shift in peri/menopause) is it causes a lot of dryness. Everywhere. Also causes a drop in collagen, which reduces elasticity in tissue. So menopause can make sex painful for women for those reasons. Can also increase UTIs. And make it harder to orgasm.
Highly recommend helping your special lady friends to find a good OB/GYN who has a good knowledge base of treatments. There are some medications out there to target drive issues.

Shoot, I’m not even supposed to eat tofu. I’m actually on Arimidex which is supposed to further suppress my estrogen.
Joint pain is a beast.

I bet it is. And that stinks, but makes sense given your history (from what I can recall what we’ve discussed here). I’ve heard of them prescribing Cymbalta in those cases.

Now the broads infiltrate the thread and make us feel empathy for females. Yuck!

My wife (no pics) is perimenopausal and it's awful. Constant struggles with hot flashes followed by freezing shivers. She's meeting with an oncology OBGYN on Friday and expects to have a radical hysterectomy via robot on Election Day. She has lymph nodes in that area that don't look good and the doctor suspects cancer (she's had an abnormally thick uterine lining for a couple of weeks with nonstop bleeding as well).
If you're so inclined, throw up a prayer for Laura; she's really worried since we have a 15 year old at home. Her mom (also no pics) has her own place on our property and recently had a mastectomy.
