How? There are anti discrimination laws in place giving harsher penalties to white people who commit a crime versus a minority because of the skin color. There are grants, scholarships, loans, programs, and government sponsored opportunities that are not available to white people and are designed solely for minorities.
I am not saying racism and discrimination doesn’t exist. I’m not saying a lot, maybe even a majority of African Americans, or other minorities, don’t start out in a disadvantaged position. What I’m saying is that the reason for this isn’t government policies but rather decisions made by the parents.

Enforcing the laws on the books would go a long way toward fixing a bunch of issues. Until folks are held accountable for their actions we'll continue down the path to when society eventually collapses.

Leadership with the balls to stand up to these people without fear of losing a re-election. Because let’s face it. Most of these politicians care about one thing. Being re-elected.

The only way there could be a common goal is if people embrace reason and moderation, think independently, and reject the facile dogmas of political extremists.
There could be common goals if people acknowledged that police brutality should be punished, but that police overall are integral to ordered society and maintaining the rule of law.
There could be common goals if people acknowledged that historical circumstances have negatively affected the station of many minorities, making their lives more challenging, but that ultimately as human beings those minorities remain responsible for their own actions and their own fates.
There could be common goals if people acknowledged that the rules of law should apply to all equally, police officer and looter alike.
There could be common goals if people advocated that the best in each field succeed, irrespective of color. Neither black nor white should be villified for the color of their skin.
There could be common goals if everyone were allowed to express their opinion without fear of reprisal.
And so on.
But I doubt any of this will happen. The zealots are loose and they view culture and politics as a means to power and wealth reallocation.

It starts with being able to have a discourse involving opposing views without using terms like libtard or right wing wacko. People are free to use that type of language but I can guarantee it will only make the other side dig in and bow their back and widen the divide. Once you get beyond the inflammatory language, middle grounds can be found instead of trying to constantly impose one's will on others.
