Just about when the second plane hit. They were not at all blase nor did they act as if it were a joke.
You didn't hear them when news first broke
It tarnished their reputation

Apparently there was a cringeworthy incident several years ago where they showed up at Howard Stern's studio unannounced and he told them to get lost.
It was worse than that. They showed up to the radio station in NYC with a birthday cake for Howard on his birthday. They sat through the entire show and were never invited in and didn’t meet anyone from the show.
Walton is convinced that Howard would listen to tapes of their show and steal ideas. Funny since W&J used to buy bits that Howard’s team recorded way back in the day, such as the Leave It To Beaver bits, and play them on the air in New Orleans.
The best was when Walton ran Johnson off and teamed up with Rick Rumble. A clever young man used to call and get on the air frequently and then yell BOBABOOEY! BOBABOOEY!!! Walton threatened to kick that guy’s arse more than once. I wonder what ever happened to that humorous scamp?
His son’s illness and death took a toll and I think his wife (Laney the traffic lady) might have left him. I wish the guy well and a full recovery.

Mr Kenneth read the lagniappe section of the paper.
They played Dennis Leary's a-hole song constantly. Taser report was read to "shock the monkey".

Naw... whoever the clown is from GimmeTheVIN.com has ruined every Saturday morning trying to listen to what used to be rock & roll on 98.1 when I am working in the yard. He thinks he's a self-proclaimed genius because his callers are dumber than a box of rocks and he screws them out of money. I hate that smug POS.
Get out. That show is fricking hilarious. Retards calling in thinking their car is worth 10k more than it is and getting in spats over it.

Bob and Tom were the worst. It was the most boring, generic crap ever. I’d take W &J over them any day...

The two Car Guys on NPR was some of the best radio.
I enjoyed W&J growing up, but haven’t listened to them in a while.

Brothers Tom and Ray Maggliozzi....Click and Clack. That was a great show!
I 'discovered' W&J while stationed overseas and streamed their shows to pass the time. Now, Back in the states, I'll only listen in occasionally.

The Tappet brothers!
Yeah, it sucked when one of them died of Alzheimer's. There's a PBS show they did years ago about cars and it becomes very apparent that their car show wasn't an act. They genuinely were the way they were on the radio.
Those guys were a class act and had a fantastic radio show.
Don't drive like my brother. Don't drive like MY brother!

Enjoy Producer Kenny on the show. If I'm in the truck listen to W&J until 8 then Michael Berry 8-11.
Use to be neighbors with Johnson in Beau Chene. Went to a show. He had different mikes for each voice with the character's name on it. He's really talented.

there was a time when those guys were hilarious, and they were really into portraying the characters, I had a friend that's been in radio for a long time and asked him if he knew them, he did, I asked him how many people were on the show, when he said it was just the two of them doing all of the voices I was pretty impressed
ETA: seems like they pretty much don't even try any more

People still listen to FM radio?
I would say yes judging by the downvoting this post garnered.

Why so much hate? W & J have been around for decades because they must be doing something right. Walton is sick. I’m sure it’s fun to guess, but no one knows his precise diagnosis, so how about just a “I hope he gets well soon”? Why does it have to be an opportunity to bash him and the show? Just turn the damn channel to something else and move on.
Producer Kenny has done a hell of a job in Walton’s absence, but they want Walton back.
True...his son passed away...that certainly changed his outlook on things. Wouldn’t it change yours?Obama became president. That made us all a bit more pessimistic.
I know people will have smart comebacks to my post, and that’s fine. I’m just hoping some will really look at the situation for what it is. The guy is sick. How about we have a little sympathy?

Then, something like 15 or 20 years ago that all stopped and it became what it is now...which is REALLY fricking hard to listen to.
If I remember right it became more of a political show around the time Obama got in to office and the show became a giant melt.
ETA: does anybody listen to the Michael Berry Show? I still enjoy that one, especially on pop a top Fridays

Yep.. i remember listening to them in the mornings before school, probably 4th or 5th grade, ‘83 and ‘84ish, on my Panasonic boom box.. seriously..
I remember listening in junior high (83-84ish). Dad was got transferred overseas and I recorded a few episodes on tape to listen to over there, on a general electric tape deck.
Anyone still have a B-97 card? Kept mine in a velcro LSU wallet. The hip kids also had a WYLD-98 card.

I love MB and pop a top Friday! Unfortunately I’m not “a grown arse man or a Lebesian woman”... but I am a founding member of the RCC.
Due to my work schedule I usually have to listen to the podcast later.
