You're done, bud.

Used to work with a girl who knew about him before he got famous. Both from Oklahoma, she said he was stuck up. I met Bud Lee who wrote Brook's best song, Friends in Low Places.

My wife has his XM channel on pretty regular in her car. I always cringe when he talks between songs because he’s a fricking creeper.

Cheated on his former wife when she was pregnant with his current wife.

He's welcome to his liberal opinions but he should keep them to himself.
I liked his one CHR hit he had.

Interesting and timely topic. I’m on a country music history book binge.
Historians don’t quite know what to do with Garth Brooks. He’s not a neo-traditionalist, but he can’t be lumped in with the likes of Shania Twain either.
He changed the presentation of country music which still reverberates to the current era of “bro” country.
The truth is, country music has always been fighting a generational battle between “authenticity” and “originality”.
I listen to the Garth channel a lot on SiriusXM, and he has some interesting takes on music.
He’s a savvy businessman (sans Chris Gaines) and he loves his fans.

Helped bring on the ruination of country music.

I mean he us fairly fake, doesn't write his own music, and lives off of music from 20+ years ago
So does Jimmy Buffett and I'd listen to his albums or go to his concerts any time.

He became a caricature of himself years ago.

He cheated on his wife and then married his daughter?

The whispering he does when he talks about a song is unbearable. His entire presentation is so bad I have to change the station. I was in high school in 89-93 and his CD was played in every truck and every bonfire we had. But success most definitely got to him.

He’s extremely generous. He donated $50 million to his first wife.

Squirrel (not like Madam Squirrel, like Buddy D used the term).

quote:100%. I can't stand it. He has this aww-shucks facade but when he starts telling stories you can tell he is such a legend in his mind. Every song he ever sang, everything that ever happened in his life was like some miracle from God and we're all supposed to be so moved and amazed by it. It's ridiculous
