That was easy.

Lafayette has one winner already and at least one nominee this year.

When I think back about all of the abandoned buildings everywhere back in the 90's and early 2000's and now look at all of the new construction going up all over, it's pretty exciting. If it weren't for the flood and the idiot regime in city hall, I'd actually be pretty bullish about this town's immediate future. I have a lot of fun now in this town, and I've been other places. It's not like I don't know any better, but I can still appreciate what I've got here.

At least the mayor isn’t permanent. We have the chance to possibly elect someone competent in a few years. Hopefully the momentum of new development can continue.

I hear they are getting rid of the dead weight at LED so maybe they can start improving things around the city.

Baton Rouge is not an easy place to live. It has all the problems of a big city, and very few of the amenities. All the Louisiana dysfunction, very little of the charm.

Concise and on target, unfortunately.

Imagine if LSU left. Just one giant Port Allen. The list of things posters are citing as pros are hilarious:

"Uhhhhhh, it's close to good cities."

"Our awful downtown is getting better."

"There are local Facebook groups you can follow."

The Spanish Moon and maybe Phil Brady’s are about the only two places I know that would even allow a non cover band to play. The rest are addicted to cover and classic rock radio.

Ever heard of the Varsity?
Why is this getting downvoted?

Had a friend who used to bash BR non stop, then he lived in Tyler, TX for a year. He doesn't bash BR anymore.

I'm asking what activities there are in Baton Rouge that people actually enjoy doing, besides bar hopping

It has probably what is one of the best outdoor volleyball complexes in the country in Mango’s. On any given night from March - October there are 500 people there playing. Mostly people in their 20’s and 30’s but there are people up to their 60’s still going out there.

You really have no clue Mike. The Varsity, the Manship Theatre, Red Dragon Listening Room, Dyson House Listening Room, Mid-City Ballroom, Chorum Hall, Harley/Vey Theatre, The Blues Room, L'aurberge, Henry Turner Jr.'s Listening Room, etc. all book a ton of original music, some of which book original music exclusively.

How does it suck? Do I think it’s a bit overhyped and maybe a flash-in-the-pan fad, sure, but sucks...I don’t think that’s the proper word to use.
