BR is pretty cheap and has plenty of restaurant and bars I enjoy. Cross the river in 10 minutes and good duck and dove hunting. LSU sports 75% of the year. Cheap decent golf. Music scene isn't much worse than Nola for the stuff I listen too. Downtown is great if you aren't a dumbass.

I like BR I guess. Man what a fig

Agreed and even places that want cover bands allow for some original music as well

It gets more hate than it deserves on this site. I'm almost 40 and married with a kid though. I don't really care about nightlife anymore. I've lived in Nola and 2 other states and prefer the people in LA to anywhere else that I've been. It's certainly not without its problems though.

I lived in BR for about a year and a half and loved it. Though I grew up in Laplace so maybe when you grow up in that shite hole everything looks great.

I've traveled all over this country (45 states I think). There are a lot of places I'd live in BR over.

Leave, go to another state, adopt their state school as your favorite team, join their message board, and leave this site for good.

Me too, especially landlocked states and the Midwest. Now, if it’s a coastal city with a nice beach scene, I’m probably going to pick it over BR.

I used to be a consultant and I'd travel to places and work on projects often for several months at a time. If you've ever spent time in Ripley, WV or Wilson, NC you'd be happy when you landed back at BTR.

I've worked in dozens of places in the US that I'd take BR over. Add Vineland, NJ to that list. And Cleveland

I never said it was the best place to live. Far from it. But there are tons of places I've spent significant time in that suck far worse (at least to me). To each their own baw

The title of the thread is "What's actually good about BR"

Anyone who says BR is a premier place to live in the US is a delusional moron.

But there are plenty of good qualities and fun activities in BR. Keep trolling though.

You make it sound like BR is the worst shithole ever. Then when someone points out other real shitholes, your response is this?

It has plenty of problems, particularly in the government and road infrastructure, but there's plenty to do and it's not really a shithole. There's a great growing food scene (Beard award or Michelin star or no - there is some damn good food being produced), a growing music scene, downtown has been blossoming in recent years.

I remember in the past finding your snobbery insufferable at times - I think this thread is bringing that back.
