It doesn't seem like all that many around today. Did they die off due to all the bro/pop counry music being played today?

Probably because it’s not the 1950’s anymore.

^^^ Saying that you’ve never been to the Hill Country without saying it

Gruene Hall, John T Floore’s Country Store, Billy Bobs to name a few. They are all in Texas

Man I miss going there. Haven’t been there in years. Fun place.

Well the honky tonks in Texas were my natural second home. The way you tipped your hat to the ladies in the Rose of San Antone.

She's in some honky tonk tonight I know
She's dancing where the music's loud and lights're low
In a crowded bar she likes to hang around
And as long as there's a honky tonk she'll never settle down
So close up the honky tonks lock all the doors
Don't let the one I love go there anymore
Close up the honky tonks throw away the key
Then maybe the one I love will come back to me
I wish I had the power to turn back the time
And live again the hours when she was all mine
But it hurts to see her running with that crowd downtown
And as long as there's a honky tonk she'll never settle down
So close up the honky tonks...

I want a bumper sticker that says “Less Honkin’, More Tonkin’”

Look where the honkytonkers and actual country folks are. They are definitely still around.

Yea, sadly we didn't make the cut.
They said we were too "metro" and that they were looking for more someone a little more "homo".

They were extremely popular in the 90s

Ropers in Hattiesburg used to be fun. Think it’s closed now.

The talentless auto tuned garbage killed it all. 12 year old girls that like this crap don’t go to bars.

There's still a bunch out west. But the south has been taken over by "rappers"
