He comes from oil money. It doesn't matter if he was a bust in the nfl or not. Aside, from the cocaine and drinking habit, he'll come out on top.

He's fricked OT 10's on the reg, because of his front. He'll do alright.

Even though you can't force him to go, you CAN set him up. Have a cop friend shake him down and when he finds drugs on him (or drinking and driving) -- THEN, you ask him again: " 1 yr jail or 1 year treatment center".

This is what I did with my son. Caught him stealing valuables from my house and said Jail or treatment. Your choice. He took treatment, thank God. My son's not in a position like JFF, though. He didn't have money or a skill. So far so good.

As far a JFF, he needs extensive treatment, including an extensive intervention. what a waste.

I'd hope that his lawyer didn't leak text messages to the press.

Seriously, it would be a soul-corroding heartbreak.

I'm sure they enabled his behavior prior to him getting into the NFL.

Talk to him and inform them you are done with their bullshite. And until he is willing to accept his problems and clean himself up that he isn't welcome around me or his mum.

It probably doesn't help that he's had his way all of his life. He's a grown man and you can talk and beg only so much, moreover, it's clear that he doesn't want to change

I assume he was given most everything he ever wanted in life, but it's weird that he seems so polite. I could be wrong, but he's never come off as the guy to trash others or treat others as though they're below him. I would just picture someone coming from his circumstances as being more of a prick to people.
Sucks that he's dead set on self destruction.

Honest answer: You cut all ties with him. Instruct all of the family to do the same. Yeah it sucks, but addicts have to hit rock bottom before they realize that they have to make a change in their lives. Unfortunately for Johnny he will have to probably lose all his fortune for that to happen, but hey?, what is more important--your money or your life?

That being said, I really do want this kid to turn it around and do good. I don't like seeing people fail at life, unless of course their name is Paul Allen.

Here is something to remind us of Johnny's better times:

Johnny Manziel singing the Aggie War Hymn with his father and sister

Tell him you are disappointed in him. That should eat him up inside if he has any respect for his parents. "

In his current state this won't scratch the surface.

The really tragic thing about JFF is that he was just SO god damn good at college football but he's not built for the pro game and he will probably have to cope with being a mediocre bum like the rest of us for the rest of his life or kill himself with drugs. I mean it's just a human tragedy. No right answer.

His future is not looking good...that being said, I don't know his family situation before A&M; was he spoiled rotten? A lot of questions...

I've read thru 3 pages listening to all the great things that could turn his life around. Well OK, that's just beautiful and hope it all works out for the current worthless POS.

But nowhere did I hear a peep about the many people whose lives he may or may have already adversely impacted or destroyed. I guess we just wait for remarks on that when he smashes into a car and kills 2 or three children.

The concern here is not focused properly. Get his arse out of society period. Do that and if he can change, then let him back in. He's had too many chances already.

What can you do? The kid Is an adult, has own home, and doesn't ask for money....yet

I'm guessing that Manziel has blown through what he made playing in Cleveland. What surprises me is that his family hasn't moved to cut him off from his family money. That would be my first move at this stage.

Aren't the Manziels some sort of Syrian gypsies with close ties to Kirksey Nix and the old Dixie Mafia? I'm not really clear on expected behavior from a Manziel male in early adulthood.

Well, since I'll actually be involved in my kids life, I won't have to worry about that problem.

This doesn't matter one iota and is the completely false assumption that only "bad parents" raise addicts.
