Meaning you had a son or daughter that was an adult, had money of their own, and was a complete junkie idiot?

What can you do? The kid Is an adult, has own home, and doesn't ask for money....yet

Build a time machine and beat some sense into him before he screwed up

Come to think of it, if I had a time machine, I'd probably say "frick Johnny Manziel" and just go through history banging women and ruling shite as a "Time Wizard".

I mean as a father the only thing you can do by that point is talk to him and hope he hears you right?

He was rich before. He received money from mommy and daddy then and probably still does

I don't think there is anything at all that you could do...once a kid leaves home for college, your time to raise him has passed.

We're having a little boy on October, and stuff like this makes me wonder. I have no idea how I'd respond. All you want is for your children to be is healthy and level headed.a situation like JFF's is so fascinatingly scary for parents to be.

I would hire a few cult-recovery specialists and literally kidnap him and bring him to a highly remote location with provisions and drop him off for about two months of reflection.

The really tragic thing about JFF is that he was just SO god damn good at college football but he's not built for the pro game and he will probably have to cope with being a mediocre bum like the rest of us for the rest of his life or kill himself with drugs. I mean it's just a human tragedy. No right answer.

Treatment Center for 1 year.
Even though you can't force him to go, you CAN set him up. Have a cop friend shake him down and when he finds drugs on him (or drinking and driving) -- THEN, you ask him again: " 1 yr jail or 1 year treatment center".

My kid would never turn out like that because I would raise him right.

Manziel has a few screws loose, it's not just a substance abuse problem. It probably doesn't help that he's had his way all of his life. He's a grown man and you can talk and beg only so much, moreover, it's clear that he doesn't want to change.

I've known quite a few people like him -- kids that are just trouble and will find it no matter what and never grow out of it. At some point all you can do is sit by the phone.

If he was my son, I'd probably tell him he was a disappointment and I take blame for raising him wrong. If that doesn't get through to him, nothing will.

Well, since I'll actually be involved in my kids life, I won't have to worry about that problem.
