Absolutely this my brother in law had somehow cut a fiber line through his yard, they weren't customers, received legal notice and a bill for $35K or some shite. Absolutely amazing what these assholes can get away with.

I must know your brother in law.

(with electric facilities on it).

This is making me suspicious. The only "poles" I've ever seen are utility (electric) poles. I have never seen an "ATT" pole.

They’re around. A buddy of mine has one in his backyard. It used to be a bell south poll before ATT bought them. And yea it also has utilities

Utility easement/right of way? In many places, the first six or so feet off the street is fair game.

The electric utility and AT&T often share poles, occasionally the electric utility will replace a pole, setting it in a different spot, they will saw off the old pole right above where the phone lines attach and leave it like that. So it ends up being a short pole with just phone lines on it.

I’d someone from AT&T did in fact tell you you could remove this, you’re going to want to get that audio that they record for “training purposes”.

Using a tire to pull out a tree is not a new hack. We used to use a model a tire rim to pull fence posts.

Yeah, nobody saw that for over an hour while you had it up.

I'm sure you will be alright, OP. I can't believe someone is dense enough to do that off the go ahead from someone at a customer service center.

have no doubt or problem believing some idiot on the random ATT customer service line said go ahead and yank the poll.

Then you sir, are a frickin moron. Every single call, with no exception is monitored and recorded.

No one, and I mean no one, would tell him to yank the pole. In fact, the liability and safety issues alone from him doing this just made this stupid a f. Do they outsource support? Yes. Unfortunately, it sounds like even the kids answering these calls in the Philippines are smarter than the OP.

i can't believe someone would actually think they could legally remove a public utility pole because it was in their yard

And he's gone. You know when this happens, someone needs to quote all of the contents once for posterity.

I was in your exact situation. Here’s what happened:

I took picture and wrote email advising of the safety hazard. I waited a week and then pulled it myself and cut the line. A day or two later AT&T called me and advised they would be collecting the repair fee. I showed them the picture and email and they said they would handle it internally. I never heard from them after that.
