Honest answer? You need the Italian mob back. You need the Russians and hipsters gome.

NOPD needs to be given free reign to keep the undesirable element preying upon themselves

For New Orleans to get back to where it was, the city government officials will have to relinquish bribery, and mob activity back to organized crime bosses.

It would take a lot of cops, courts, and jailers strictly enforcing laws with no quarter given.

I'm talking everything, from littering, vagrancy and jaywalking up through murder.

You would have to make it a place that is miserable for those with low standards to live in.

NOLAs problems started long before yall realize.. since 1950 houston, atlanta and charlotte metro areas grew by more than 300% nola just by 90....

why..... the answers aren't a race or races.... but accepting mediocrity and corruption and an abysmal education system.

the chasm between NOLA and the rest of the state does not help. At one time 90% of the people at angola were from orleans parish - did NOla foot 90% of the bill for that NO..

tourism is number one industry - which is by and large low paying service jobs..

new orleans blew a huge opportunity to re-invent itself after katrina..... that opportunity was squandered by too many in leadership positions looking out for their own parochial interests....

if you don't clean it up, more rats will come...

but NOLA getting out done by metro areas like charlotte, houston and atlanta really started in their hey day... the 50s and 60s

Man, are you crazy???????Give up on the parochialism of the neighboring parishes that only exist because of the City of New Orleans?

If you really want to understand the issue, do some research into the beginnings of the RTA. The state created it to be a regional agency, that all of the local parishes would then fold their transit systems into. Orleans did, everyone else told the state to F off.

And this is why, to this day, transit between parishes is a joke of a system.

And I think that's why people need to stop comparing NOLA to those cities in the short and mid term. It will take 100 years to catch up, IF we do everything right.

I was thinking the same thing when I read the title.

Whore's den with drugs available and run by the mob.

We could start the process if Edwin E. is healthy enough to do his part.

I'm old enough to remember the old green NOPSI busses so I know about the RTA. The reason was that the people in East Jeff did not want the peops in NOLA coming over into Metairie and creating NOLA West. The good folks in Old Metairie bitched up a storm.
