What would happen if we plopped a copy of the Swindon, England Magic Roundabout in LA?

The Swindon roundabout has 7 circles and allows traffic in both directions and has some interesting benefits but I gotta think it might tax a few brains even if it was naturally converted to left-hand drive.

90-second video that explains it:

I’ve never had any issues driving through a roundabout but that one just looks confusing.

My wife would boycott that city, or just make me drive…. She hates them, maybe just a women thing, as I think they are kind of fun…

I went through a few pretty weird roundabouts in England, but not that one. Jeez.

Not fair. Swindon is a "military-town" for high-ranking military officers. They are smarter than the average bear - or so they say.

Are there people lined up around that thing just watching?

It actually makes sense. Still looks nerve-wracking, but it’s a logical design.

I read on here all the time about La drivers not knowing how to handle traffic circles. But I live near several, and have never seen an accident or issue.

The Alex roundabout runs that redcoat monstrosity back to England.

Myth Busters did a test among traffic lights, four way stops, a traffic cop, and roundabouts.

Roundabouts kicked arse when it came to moving more cars through in less time.

that and it is safer, if there are collisions they will be glancing as opposed to broadside or head on

I love roundabouts, and wish we would adopt more simple ones like the one on Lobdell/Government, but American drivers aren’t ready for a monstrosity like that.

US drivers are pretty bad compared to drivers around the world, particularly in the huge cities

It's hard for us to visualize that one because they drive the other direction thru them.

they put a roundabout at the 4 way stop at airport road and old Covington hwy near my house in Hammond. It’s a simple one lane traffic circle with very light daily traffic

at least once a month there’s a car perched on the top of the dirt mound in the middle when I leave to go to work

That was my initial difficulty "seeing" how it worked. I had to flip all the arrows and see the trunk (boot) as the hood (bonnet) in my head.

Just driving into it cold would be beyond confusing but you could just stay on the outside and treat it like a normal roundabout you could get where you were going but it wouldn't be quite as efficient to get to some of the exits.
