What would be the welterweight animal champion of the world

I stand corrected. thought I heard in a nat geo video they were in the 30 range. Wiki says males are around 18lb

I can't think of anything better than the Honey Badger off the top of my head. I think it would have the advantage over any cat, and there isn't really much else in that weight class.

Wolverine, end of story. They are in the same family as Honey Badgers and are bigger and meaner.

Really, not much else in that weight class. Baboons and Hyenas are far too big.
I might say some of the monitors - Quick, good sized and venom - but they often outweigh that limit as well.
