Compared to 100 years ago, just about everything is automated. Lots more things are automated now than 25 years ago.

People keep talking about "when everything is automated" when that shite has been creeping for a century.

Tractors and cotton gins automated farming, costing millions of jobs.

I'm all for automation, but it's here and has been here for a long time. This is not futuristic.

Somebody will have to maintain and repair robots. Or maintain and repair the robots who maintain and repair robots.

Ditch diggers were a real thing at highway departments...and they had a lot of them.

Those are long term questions - everyone won't code because basic, repetitive coding can be automated. There will be a some positions that require coding, but not some massive amount.

Anything requiring nimble fingers, a very wide ranging skillset and non-repetitive tasks are insulated against automation.

I mentioned this in one of the threads the other day. I feel for young people, cause a lot of jobs won't exist that exist today, will be done by machines.

They told us the same thing in 1960 about computers, if anything the computer revolution created many more jobs than were eliminated, i expect the same for automation.

Actually they are. AI can produce millions of songs, movies, paintings, etc in a fraction of the time and then sort them into what people will like best.

The sad part is they won't even need to do this because nobody will have jobs to pay for art or music.

Die pretty much. If you are unlucky enough to survive the blast, the dust and debris hurled into the atmosphere will kill millions from the bad air. Then the “nuclear winter” resulting from said dust and debris will kill off pretty much the rest of humanity. Hopefully there will be enough left to restore our species but it will be a genetic bottleneck in that case.

They said that about Flutie but he won like nine Super Bowls and drop-kicked an extra point.

I still think it will be soulless.

You can’t capture raw, real soul and beauty. Only a cheap imitation.

Wow.

Years later, who knew "The Jetsons" would be remembered as a cautionary tale of unchecked white privilege?
