My dad talks about how he used to go with my uncle to Sam Houston Coliseum for Saturday Night Houston Wrestling with Paul Bosch. Talks about Wahoo McDaniel, Fritz Von Erich, Ernie Ladd.

Kamala is probably my favorite. The character was so over the damn top and ridiculous, but as a kid I bought they shite whole hog.

JYD was tGOAT. Amazing how a bunch of rednecks would root for a black guy until they were hoarse, but the “north” weren’t the racist ones.

The Von Erichs were a stable of awesome wrestlers.

The rock n roll express vs the midnight express was must see TV. throw in some 4 horsemen, sprinkle in some fabulous freebirds and a group of Von Erichs and it was lit!

Kabuki was the shite.

Jake Roberts, dude could work and who didn’t like Hacksaw Jim Dugan?

No one mentioned Hacksaw Butch Reed and his soup bones? He was an awesome heel.

Terry Taylor and Mr. Wrestling II was a great story line.

Dr Death Steve Williams had me convinced OU was a bad arse school.

Old school mid south, WCCW, and NWA were awesome. WWF had names but it was too over the top even back then.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan

He lived next door to a friend of mine about mile down the road from me in the early 80's (Mid-South days). Got to go over and meet him. Good times

Everybody has mentioned most of the good ones, but my favorite for a while was Tommy “Wildfire” Rich from the Georgia/TBS circuit.

My favorite ref was, obviously, “Scrappy” McGowan
