5 pages and no mention of Grits or Hyde Park?
You also forgot F&M Patio Bar right down the block from Grits.
I went to Grits back in the 60's whenever I was around that neighborhood visiting relatives. My uncle was a regular in there and would let me come along and shoot pool while he drank beer in a short glass at the bar.
I know the guy that owns it now quite well and it is still going strong with the darting community and college crowd.

Bruno's, TJ Quills, Shanahans
I was a teen of the 80's...
However, we would go to Port of Call, get a Monsoon and walk around the quarter... This was in the early 80's so it was safe...

I had a friend of my brother’s DL that I used to buy cigs and go to Sugar’s on Tom Drive when I was 16/17.

Were any of yall in Tuck's on the nights when the whole place would go pitch black and then cops would come in checking IDs? The place would be a mess since we all knew if that happened, you drop whatever drink you had and walk away from it.

We threw house parties instead of going to bars. My older brother would help us get alcohol. Was probably the best situation. We didn’y have to worry about fake IDs or bouncers, and if we got fricked up we were in one place. No one got in trouble, no one got in fights and we always had girls over. I wouldn’t mind going back to that.

Damn. Almost forgot about the Bengal. Talk about memories. Pop a shot while downloading by a few beers at the ripe old age of 16-17.

When know the same people. My boy J Ray worked there up until the end I believe when AC was managing it.

My brother swears up and down about being in Downs Lounge when he was 14.

Remember Hillary's..?
Showing your age...
That was before my time... My Uncle worked there checking IDs.. He was good friends with the owner...
It was called LeCole's before Silver Maple.. Guy that owned it drowned behind the Original Bart's on the Lakefront...

That was in the late 90’s, definitely not the early 80’s...
I turned 18 in December of ‘81... Didn’t have any issues with getting in bars..
